UAB sizzles with 70-percent shooting, beats UTSA 104-82

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) Dirk Williams scored 17 points and two others combined for 30 as hot-shooting UAB defeated Texas-San Antonio 104-82 Thursday night.
The Blazers (12-3, 2-0 Conference USA) shot 70-percent, going 42-for-60 from the field, and made 58 percent of their 3-point shots, hitting 11 of 19.
Williams hit three treys. Robert Brown and Denzell Watts scored 15 points apiece, each making three 3-pointers. Nick Norton dished nine assists and Watts six as UAB collected 31 assists on 42 field goals.
Robert Brown shot a 3-pointer and Lewis Sullivan followed with a 3-point play as UAB came from six points down to lead by six after an early 12-0 run in which UTSA was scoreless for four minutes. The Blazers led 54-34 by the half.
J.R. Harris poured in a career-high 36 points, with a school-record 10 3-pointers, for the Roadrunners (3-13, 1-2). The junior beat his previous high score by 15 points.
