Sadler leads Rider to 73-57 win over Penn

PHILADELPHIA (AP) Zedric Sadler scored a career-high 23 points and Jimmie Taylor added 15 as Rider started fast to defeat Penn 73-57 on Tuesday.

Sadler hit 7 of 9 shots, including all four of his 3-pointers, and 5 of 6 free throws as the Broncs (1-1) shot 52 percent. They were even better from behind the arc, making 10 of 18.

The Quakers (0-2) shot 42.6 percent and were just 5 of 19 on 3-pointers and 6 of 12 from the line. Tony Hicks led Penn with 11 points.

After a Hicks layup at 7:19 pulled Penn within 21-20, Rider took control behind Khalil Alford. Alford scored eight quick points, including back-to-back 3s. After a Penn 3, the Broncs scored 11 straight points for a 40-23 lead. Taylor started the run with a 3, Xavier Lundy scored four straight and Sadler finished it with a 3. It was 40-26 at the half.
