No. 14 Purdue wins exhibition finale

Terone Johnson scored 17 points Tuesday night and No. 14 Purdue beat Midwestern State 78-58 in its final exhibition game.

Johnson, a freshman, had eight points in Purdue's 29-9 first-half run.

E'Twaun Moore scored 15 points and Patrick Bade had 13 for the Boilermakers, who shot just 37 percent from the field and committed 17 turnovers.

Michael Loyd scored 17 points on 6-of-20 shooting and Chris Hagan added 13 points for the Mustangs. Midwestern State committed 17 of its 23 turnovers in the first half to fall behind 36-22 at the break.

Purdue hosts Howard in its season opener Sunday.

JaJuan Johnson had eight points, eight rebounds and three blocks for the Boilermakers, who held the Mustangs scoreless for an eight-minute span in the first half.

Darrick Thomas had six points and 11 rebounds for Midwestern State. Thomas made all three of his field-goal attempts, but the Mustangs shot 31 percent overall.
