Mitola's 33 sparks Dartmouth past Cornell 87-78

HANOVER, N.H. (AP) Alex Mitola poured in a career-high 33 points and drilled 8 of 9 3-pointers, carrying Dartmouth to an 87-78 victory over Cornell on Saturday night.

The Big Green (10-16, 3-9 Ivy League) shot 50 percent from the field and went 12 of 20 from beyond the arc. Mitola was 10 of 16 on field goals and 5 of 6 from the foul line. Kevin Crescenzi scored 17 points and Connor Boehm chipped in 11.

Cornell (2-24, 1-11) also shot 50 percent, but made just 5 of 20 attempts from the perimeter. Dwight Tarwater led the Big Red with 23 points and Devin Cherry added 22.

Dartmouth moved out to a 12-point lead in the second half after two 3-pointers and a jumper by Mitola. Cornell pulled within three, but Dartmouth later countered as Mitola hit three more from deep to grab a 65-52 lead with 7:50 remaining.
