Minnesota guard to transfer after sex video suspension

Updated Mar. 4, 2020 2:38 p.m. ET

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) Kevin Dorsey, one of three Minnesota guards suspended at the end of the season after a sex video appeared briefly on social media, is transferring.

The Golden Gophers made the announcement on Monday. Dorsey was suspended for the final four games of the season after a sex video appeared on his Twitter account. Teammates Nate Mason and Dupree McBrayer were also suspended.

The school reinstated the players last month and said they would be eligible to return to the team in good standing at the start of next season. Dorsey was a coveted recruit for coach Richard Pitino. He averaged 6.8 points as a freshman.

Pitino says he spoke with Dorsey and his family and concluded it was best for him to transfer closer to home.
