Loyola Marymount 77, San Francisco 76
Anthony Ireland drove for a layup with 1.6 seconds left in overtime, giving Loyola Marymount a wild 77-76 victory Saturday night over San Francisco.
San Francisco's Angelo Caloiaro had given the Dons the lead on his own layup with 36 seconds left. He was fouled on the shot and missed the ensuing free throw. Ireland dribbled the game clock under 7 seconds before starting his drive.
Ireland finished with 17 points for the Lions (8-6, 1-0 West Coast), who were led by C.J. Blackwell's 19 points.
Caloiaro scored 26 points, matching his career high, for the Dons (9-6, 0-2), who forced overtime on a Michael Williams 3-pointer off a turnover with 12 seconds left in regulation. Williams finished with 17 points.
San Francisco took its first lead of the game, 72-70, on a Caloiaro layup two minutes into overtime, and the lead changed hands several more times before Ireland's game-winner.
