Michael Glover scored 19 points to lead Iona to a 73-61 win over Niagara Friday night, keeping the Gaels unbeaten in Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference play.

Scott Machado, who came in leading the nation in assists per game at 10.4, added 13 points and eight dishes for the Gaels (12-3, 4-0). Iona, which has won five of six, has now swept the season series against Niagara for the past three seasons. The Gaels also beat the Purple Eagles on Dec. 4.

The contest was close in the first half but, trailing 31-30 with less than four minutes until the intermission, Lamont Jones hit a 3 and a layup to put Iona up 35-31 at halftime. The Gaels held the Purple Eagles scoreless for a span of 3:35 before halftime.

Iona opened the second on a 6-2 run and cruised from there.

Marvin Jordan led Niagara (6-10, 1-3) with 15 points.
