MANILA, Philippines - University of Iloilo and West Negros Univerity stormed to second straight victories Sunday in the Visayas Islandsregional games of the 2010 Philippine Collegiate Championship in Iloilo City.The Iloilo Wildcats thrashed the AMA Titans, 103-82, a resounding followup to their 103-85 humbling of Philippine Maritime Institute, the reigning Bohol champion.The WNU Mustangs, on the other hand,dumped Asian College of Science and Technology, 105-77. They also hurdled their opening assignment at the expense of the PMI Navigators, 103-85.The AMA Titans, the Ormoc titlists, bounced back against the Navigators, 111-89, to improve to a 2-1 win-loss record. They beat theACSTT Lightings on opening day, 94-78.The Visayas winner will join University of San Carlos Warriors (CESAFI third placer), Southwestern University Cobras (CESAFI fourth placer) and the Mindanao regional champion in the VisMin Zonal Qualifying games where two seats to the Sweet 16 Finals are at stake.The zonal games will be held in Cebu City on the third week of November.Ten seats to the Sweet 16 Finals have been filled up by the top four teams of the Universities Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) and the National Collegiate Athletic Association ( NCAA) and the finalists of the CESAFI.They are UAAP champion Ateneo, Far Eastern University, Adamson, La Salle, San Beda College, San Sebastian-Recoletos, Jose Rizal University, Mapua, University of Cebu and University of Visayas.The eighth edition of the Champions League is sponsored by PLDT, Smart, Molten Balls and ABS-CBN, the official television network.More information can be obtained at
