Harris scores 21, Nicholls State beats Bethune-Cookman 76-69

BIIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) DeAndre Harris scored 21 points and Nicholls State beat Bethune-Cookman 76-69 in the San Diego Classic on Friday.

Nicholls (3-3) lost its first two tournament games in San Diego and Bethune-Cookman (2-4) fell to 0-3.

Johnathan Bell had 13 points for Nicholls, which shot 50 percent from the floor. Stevie Repichowski and Jahvaughn Powell chipped in 12 points apiece.

Brandon Tabb scored 25 points to lead Bethune-Cookman. He has scored 20 points or more in his last four games.

The Colonels took the lead for good four minutes into the game, led 26-25 midway through the first half, and used a 17-9 surge to build a 43-34 halftime lead.

The Colonels had a double-digit lead for most of the second half until Bethune-Cookman used a 12-0 run to pull to 70-66 with 50 seconds left but the Wildcats didn't get closer.
