College of Charleston beats UNC-Wilmington 75-70
CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) Nori Johnson's first six shots were 3-pointers and he hit them all as College of Charleston took an early lead and held it to defeat North Carolina-Wilmington 75-70 Wednesday night.
Johnson led the Cougars (11-9, 3-2 Colonial Athletic Association) with 23 points on 7-for-9 shooting from the field. Eight of his shots and all seven makes were 3-pointers. Johnson's playing time has increased since Canyon Barry (youngest son of former NBA star Rick Barry) injured a finger on his shooting hand Jan. 1. Johnson, in his second start, reached 20 points for just the third time. Willis Hall scored 12 and Anthony Thomas 11 for the Cougars.
The Seahawks (6-15, 0-6) fought into a tie at 52-52 but Johnson hit his seventh 3 a minute later, pushing the lead back to five points. Cedrick Williams scored 22 and Chris Dixon 21 for UNC Wilmington, which has lost 10 straight.
