Jalin Thomas hit a 3-pointer from the right wing at the buzzer and Central Michigan beat Cal State-Fullerton 70-67 on Friday in the Outrigger Hotels Rainbow Classic.
The Chippewas inbounded the ball with 5.3 seconds remaining after the Titans' Perry Webster was called for a charging foul in the lane.
Trey Zeigler received the inbound pass, dribbled down the middle of the floor and passed to Thomas, who hit the 3-pointer.
Thomas finished with 21 points to lead four Central Michigan players in double figures. Amir Rashid added 13, Andre Coimbra had 12 and Zeigler added 11. William McClure had 15 rebounds as Central Michigan (1-0) held a rebounding 41-26 advantage.
Orane Chin had 17 points and 12 rebounds for Cal State-Fullerton (0-1), which led by 11 late in the first half.
