Brantley leads as Charleston holds on to beat Elon, 66-62

ELON, N.C. (AP) Jarrell Brantley scored 20 points and hit the front end of a one-and-one with 33 seconds left to secure the College of Charleston a 66-62 victory over Elon Saturday night.

The win gives the Cougars a winning start to a home stretch where they play four of their final five games on the road. Elon won the earlier meeting, 65-64.

Tyler Seibring hit a 3-pointer with 1:03 left that cut the Charleston lead to two, 62-60. Brantley pushed the lead to 63-62 and Luke Eddy pulled the Phoenix within one, 63-62, but Elon could not score again.

Brantley grabbed nine rebounds and Cameron Johnson, who added a free throw in the closing seconds, contributed 15 points for Charleston (16-9, 8-6 Colonial). Payton Hulsey added 10 points.

Steve Santa Ana came off the bench to score 20 points for Elon (14-13, 5-9). Seibring hit seven 3-pointers and added 17 points.
