Signs extension with New England Sands signed a contract extension with New England Revolution through the 2029-30 MLS season, the club announced.
Impact Sands has been one of the standout performers in the early stages of the 2026 MLS campaign, starting all 14 matches across both left and right back while contributing one goal, one assist and three clean sheets. The 25-year-old joined New England during the 2024 summer transfer window and is now in his third season with the club, having previously won the 2023 MLS Cup championship with Columbus Crew. Sporting director Curt Onalfo praised his tremendous growth as a player and teammate since joining, while head coach Marko Mitrovic described him as both a talented player and an exceptional person whose best years are still ahead. Over his MLS career with New England and Columbus, Sands has accumulated 63 appearances including 41 starts, one goal and six assists in regular season play. The Revolution, sitting fourth in the Eastern Conference at the World Cup break, will resume their season with a home fixture against Toronto FC on July 22 at Gillette Stadium.

Unfortunate own goal Sands registered an own goal, one shot (zero on goal) and one cross (zero accurate) in Saturday's 2-1 victory over Philadelphia Union.
Impact Sands experienced a mixed night in Saturday's 2-1 win over Philadelphia Union, deflecting Milan Iloski's touch past Matt Turner in the first half for an own goal that handed the visitors the lead in an unfortunate moment, before responding after the break with composed defensive work and an accurate cross that helped initiate the buildup leading to Luca Langoni's equalizer. The American left-back made four tackles, one interception and one clearance. Sands has registered one goal across 11 MLS appearances this season, and his ability to recover from the own goal and contribute positively to the comeback underlined his importance to both the defensive and attacking structure of his team.

Active at right-back Sands recorded five crosses (three accurate) and two chances created in Saturday's 1-0 win over Charlotte FC. In addition, he was given a yellow card in the 51st minute.
Impact Usually a left-back, New England shifted Sands' position to right-back Saturday because the team rendered Ilay Feingold (undisclosed) out. Sands subsequently quadrupled his 2026's tally of accurate crosses from one to four in 10 appearances.
MAY 3 • ROTOWIRE
Scores from defense Sands scored one goal to go with one shot (one on goal), two crosses (zero accurate) and one chance created in Wednesday's 2-1 win over Atlanta United.
Impact Sands would start the comeback for New England on Wednesday, as the defender got on the scoresheet in the 73rd minute. This is a rare goal for the defender, as he has not recorded one in his MLS career until now. That said, he also added two blocks and five clearances in the defense.

Suffers head injury Saturday Sands was forced to abandon Saturday's matchup against Nashville due to a head injury, Caleb Pongratz of Prost Soccer reports.
Impact Sands barely had a chance to produce in 45 minutes of play before picking up the issue. He'll need to be assessed during the week, and his status will be a doubt for the upcoming visit to New York Red Bulls. His absence would force the team to a change in the initial lineup, with his substitute Tanner Beason set to take on an increased role in that case.
FEBRUARY 21 • ROTOWIRE
Leads team in crosses Sands had seven crosses (three accurate) and two chances created in Saturday's 4-1 loss versus Inter Miami CF.
Impact Sands would earn a second straight start Saturday, with the defender having a decent contribution in his 90 minutes of work. He would see most of his work in the attack, recording two chances created and a team-high seven crosses in the attack to go along with one clearance, a tackle and two interceptions in the defense. He will hope to continue earning the start, although he has only started in five of his 18 appearances this season.

Listed as questionable Sands (lower leg) is listed as questionable for Wednesday's match against Montreal.
Impact Sands was seen in a walking boot a few days ago, however it does not seem like his leg injury is as bad as originally expected as he is questionable foe Wednesday. Even if fit, Peyton Miller is still still expected to start at left back on Wednesday, after starting the last two games for the team.
SEPTEMBER 18, 2024 • ROTOWIRE
Spotted in walking boot Sands was spotted in a walking boot and is expected to miss a couple of weeks, manager Caleb Porter told media Thursday.
Impact The full extent of the injury isn't certain, but not having Sands for even a couple of games would be a huge blow for a New England team that's already lacking depth on the defensive end. The absence of Sands suggests Ben Sweat could be his replacement in the meantime.

On bench Saturday Sands (knee) is on the bench for Saturday's match against Minnesota United.
Impact Sands is making his season debut Saturday, finally having returned from a lengthy absence that dates back to April 2023 due to ACL surgery. The defender will now have his eyes set on earning back his starting spot, as in the seven matches he played last campaign, he was given the start in all of them. He will most likely still gain some time off the bench against Minnesota, testing his legs a bit before possibly getting a go in the starting XI next week.
MARCH 2, 2024 • ROTOWIRE

Impact Sands missed the opener due to a knee injury but comes into Saturday's clash with no injury designation. The defender will hope to get on the pitch for Saturday's clash as he works his way back from an ACL injury that plagued him at the start of the 2023 campaign.

Out for season opener Sands (knee) is out for Saturday's match against Atlanta United.
Impact Sands will miss the club's opening match of the season, having yet to reach full fitness from an ACL tear he picked up just two months into last year's campaign. However, the defender has been spotted training and playing in scrimmages with the team, so his return shouldn't be far away. He will look to find the field next Saturday against Minnesota, but if not, expect him to at least be available at some point in March.
