GAME LOG

Named to World Cup squad Tomiyasu (undisclosed) is in doubt against Wolverhampton on Saturday but is expected to be available for Japan at the 2022 World Cup.
Impact In 17 appearances for Arsenal this season, Tomiyasu has recorded one assist, three shots (zero on target) and eight crosses (three accurate). Barring any injury setbacks, the defender should be in the mix to feature prominently in Japan's starting XI for the World Cup.

Unavailable versus Chelsea Tomiyasu (knock) didn't make the game-day squad list to face Chelsea Sunday.
Impact Tomiyasu picked up a small injury during the midweek Europa League game versus Zurich and will miss at least one game. Ben White and Oleksandr Zinchenko are manning the defensive flanks from the start, while Kieran Tierney and Cedric Soares are on the bench.
NOVEMBER 6, 2022 • ROTOWIRE
Comes off with knock Tomiyasu was brought off in the second half of Thursday's 1-0 win over Zurich in the Europa League due to a knock. Coach Mikel Arteta suggested it was somewhat precautionary, notin...
Impact Tomiyasu came onto the pitch as a substitute in the 75th minute and had to be taken off after 13 minutes following a heavy challenge. The full-back had made five starts in a row before Thursday's match and has been a consistent part of the first team, often coming off the bench. Tomiyasu will hope to return in some capacity for Sunday's trip to Chelsea, though Kieran Tierney and Ben White could get the starts even if Tomiyasu is fully fit.

World Cup goal for Japan is quarterfinals - at least

Keeps clean sheet in win Tomiyasu made three clearances and two interceptions in Sunday's 1-0 victory against Leeds United. He also won one of one tackles in the match.
Impact Tomiyasu has now started Arsenal's last two Premier League games at left-back and it seems he has maybe surpassed Kieran Tierney in the full-back depth chart, but he will likely return to the bench once Oleksandr Zinchenko (strain) is fit again.
OCTOBER 16, 2022 • ROTOWIRE
Yet to start in EPL Tomiyasu has played in seven league and UEL matches during the 2022/23, starting once in European competition.
Impact Tomiyasu started in 20 of his 21 league appearances last season but has found himself behind center-back Ben White on the right flank. A lack of fitness has limited Tomiyasu from establishing himself but White is also talented enough to contribute out of position for a team that's looked far stronger. Going forward, it seems unlikely this situation will change without someone slipping up, though a busy month of October ahead of the World Cup could help Tomiyasu make a few more appearances.
SEPTEMBER 28, 2022 • ROTOWIRE
In squad Saturday Tomiyasu is fit and in the match day squad for Saturday's match with Leicester City.
Impact Tomiyasu returns after missing out on Arsenal's opening match with a strain. The defender starts from the bench but is available if called upon Saturday.
AUGUST 13, 2022 • ROTOWIRE
Could return Saturday Tomiyasu (strain) has resumed training with the first team and may be available versus Leicester City on Saturday. Manager Mikel Arteta told reporters, "They've been reintegrated i...
Impact Tomiyasu appeared to come through his 45-minute session with the U21 squad without suffering any setbacks which should clear the way for him to at least be a bench option sooner rather than later. Even if the defender does start, he is unlikely to offer more than mid-range fantasy value given his limited offensive upside -- he failed to score a goal in 21 outings last season.
AUGUST 12, 2022 • ROTOWIRE
Gets run with Academy Tomiyasu (strain) played 45 minutes with the U21 squad over the weekend.
Impact Tomiyasu is working his way back to fitness and appears to be getting closer. He should train more this week, but it's still not expected he'll be back in the starting XI for the next match, as Mikel Arteta will be taking his time more than last season, as it seems like he has a back line he likes after holding a clean sheet in the opener.
AUGUST 8, 2022 • ROTOWIRE
Expected to train ahead of opener Tomiyasu (strain) is expected to train Thursday and could be an option for Friday's opener against Crystal Palace, according to manager Mikel Arteta.
Impact Tomiyasu has been dealing with minor muscle injuries all year and Arteta isn't going to push him back into the squad like he did last season. It's likely he'll need a couple weeks to get back his fitness and until then, Ben White figures to draw starts at right-back, assuming that experiment doesn't go sour.
AUGUST 4, 2022 • ROTOWIRE
Nearing return to training Tomiyasu (strain) could return to full training this week, Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta said after Saturday's friendly win over Chelsea.
Impact Tomiyasu is getting closer to making his return from a muscular injury that has kept him sidelined for the preseason, and there is hope that he may be available for the Premier League opener on Aug. 5. Cedric Soares or Nuno Tavares could begin the campaign as the starting right-back until Tomiyasu is fit again.
JULY 26, 2022 • ROTOWIRE
Has minor muscle issue Tomiyasu has missed preseason friendlies due to a minor muscular injury and there's a worry he may not be ready when the season begins, according to Yahoo Sports Japan.
Impact Tomiyasu ended last season hurt and could start the new campaign with another issue before it's even gotten started. At the least, Cedric Soares andNuno Tavares will help fill out the lineup at full-back, as both Tomiyasu and Kieran Tierney have struggled with injuries in the offseason.

JULY 18, 2022 • Associated Press
Ends season injured Tomiyasu ended the season with another injury and starting just four of the final 18 matches.
Impact It was a tough campaign for Tomiyasu, who had been mostly healthy in recent seasons at Bologna. Fortunately, they were only muscle injuries (hamstring, calf), so it's not something that should hamper him going forward. At full health, he was an excellent addition at right-back and someone who will be a regular in years to come. On the downside, he doesn't get up the field too much for a right-back, seen in his 11 shots and 31 crosses from 20 starts.
MAY 24, 2022 • ROTOWIRE
Unlikely for finale Tomiyasu (hamstring) wasn't mentioned by manager Mikel Arteta, but he's considered a doubt for Sunday's match against Everton.
Impact It's hard to see Tomiyasu playing through a new muscle injury after picking it up earlier in the week. Cedric Soares and Nuno Tavares are both available to start Sunday and will likely be in at full-back in a must-win spot for Arsenal.
MAY 20, 2022 • ROTOWIRE
Picks up new injury Tomiyasu was forced off in the 39th minute of Monday's match against Newcastle with a possible muscle injury.
Impact Only recently back from a calf injury, Tomiyasu looked to have suffered a new muscle injury higher up his leg. His muscles likely weren't ready to start four-straight matches after missing three months of action. With Tomiyasu unlikely for the finale, Cedric Soares will likely get the start against Everton.
MAY 16, 2022 • ROTOWIRE
Plays 77 minutes in win Tomiyasu lasted 77 minutes in Sunday's 2-1 win against West Ham, totaling three tackles (one won), one interception and three clearances.
Impact Tomiyasu returned to the starting XI Sunday, his first since Jan. 1 and was apparently taken out late for fatigue-related issues. That's not too surprising and the hope is that he can completely recover over the week and be available against Leeds on Sunday. For now, it looks like he and Nuno Tavares are the starting full-backs to close the season.
MAY 2, 2022 • ROTOWIRE
Starting against West Ham Tomiyasu (calf) is in Arsenal's starting lineup for Sunday's clash against West Ham United.
Impact Tomiyasu is making his first start since January on Sunday after missing three months with a calf injury.
MAY 1, 2022 • ROTOWIRE
Gets minute against Man United Tomiyasu played one minute off the bench in Saturday's 3-1 win against Manchester United.
Impact Tomiyasu needed to get some pitch time Saturday after missing the previous three months, so this was good to see. He may not be ready to start next Sunday at West Ham but it's good to see him healthy again on the edge of full fitness.
APRIL 25, 2022 • ROTOWIRE
Bench option against Manchester United Tomiyasu (calf) is available for Saturday's game versus Manchester United.
Impact Tomiyasu is fit enough to be a substitute after missing extended time with a calf injury and can start being re-integrated into the rotation. Cedric Soares is playing as a right-back in this one. He has tallied 11 chances, 29 crosses (11 accurate), 30 tackles and 43 clearances in 16 Premier League appearances so far.
APRIL 23, 2022 • ROTOWIRE
Late test against Man United Tomiyasu (calf) is considered a late test for Sunday's match against Manchester United, according to manager Mikel Arteta. "If he trains today and he feels good then he will be ava...
Impact It still doesn't sound like Tomiyasu will be an option to start Sunday given his time away and that he's still probably not 100-percent fit. Ben White started at full-back last match and since that ended in a win, there's a chance Arteta takes a similar approach with his back line Sunday.
APRIL 22, 2022 • ROTOWIRE
Edging closer to return Tomiyasu (calf) will be a late test for Wednesday's match against Chelsea, according to manager Mikel Arteta. "Tomi is very, very close. Whether this game is going to be too early...
Impact Tomiyasu is edging closer, but there's still almost no chance he'll start Wednesday having not played since Jan. 1 because of this nagging issue. He's likely a week or so away, as he'll need to get back his fitness and complete health before making the XI. However, once ready, he'll be a much needed body, as he and Cedric Soares will likely play as full-backs with one of them moving to the left side.
APRIL 19, 2022 • ROTOWIRE
Hopeful to return in two weeks Tomiyasu (calf) is hopeful to return to full training after the April 16 trip to Southampton, according to the team.
Impact Tomiyasu was supposedly training fully this past week, but that's not the case given this latest update. Arsenal are taking their time with his return, as he's already suffered a recurrence with the injury. The hope is that he can find his fitness by the end of the month and be an option again come May, which would help following the latest injury to Kieran Tierney.
APRIL 5, 2022 • ROTOWIRE
Full training participant Tomiyasu (calf) has resumed full training and could be an option against Crystal Palace on Monday. Manager Mikael Arteta told reporters, "I think it will be close. He's been traini...
Impact Tomiyasu has been out of action since Jan. 1 versus Manchester City, a stretch of eight games out of the squad due to his calf problem. In his last five appearances, the right-back has recorded 10 crosses (five accurate), two shots (one on target) and 10 clearances. As such, Tomiyasu figures to offer solid top-half fantasy value if cleared to play Monday.
MARCH 31, 2022 • ROTOWIRE
Will miss Aston Villa match Tomiyasu (calf) is absent from Arsenal's game-day squad list to face Aston Villa Saturday.
Impact Tomiyasu will remain on the mend with a calf issue, although the coach suggested he is nearing a return. Cedric Soares is filling in at right-back.
