GAME LOG

Creates one chance in loss Kubo created one chance and put one shot off target during Monday's 3-0 loss to Real Madrid.
Impact Kubo had more to deal with in flying elbows from Rodrygo than in offensive work against a parent club that's sent him out on loan in each of the last three seasons. That being said, he's still started in nine straight matches and could play an important role in the next match at Espanyol, which have conceded 41 goals in 28 matches this season.

Takes four shots against Sociedad Kubo took four shots and created a chance in Wednesday's 2-0 defeat against Real Sociedad.
Impact Kubo was a threat on Wednesday but he couldn't put any of his shots on target, a common theme for the 20-year-old as only five of his 34 shots this season (14.7 percent) have even been on goal. Still, he has consistently been getting into dangerous positions, and will be looking to do so again versus Celta Vigo on Sunday.

Forces own goal in win Kubo put four shots off target, created four chances and forced an own goal during Monday's 3-2 win over Athletic Club.
Impact Kubo has often been considered more promise than execution as a player but he gave his team a decisive own goal from Unai Simon, though he doesn't get the credit for it on the scoresheet. With eight chances created and six shots taken over his last two matches, Kubo should have good base value for the moment. Up next is a trip to Betis.

Takes two shots against Levante Kubo took two shots and created a chance in Saturday's 2-0 defeat against Levante. He also made a clearance in the match.
Impact Kubo made just his second La Liga start since September on Saturday, but he has looked dangerous in both of those games and could be in line for more opportunities if he can stay fit.

Takes three shots in loss Kubo took three shots (two on goal) and created one chance from four crosses during Sunday's 4-1 loss to Granada.
Impact Kubo earned his first start since returning from a knee injury and was able to contribute at a respectable rate. Should he regain even more fitness over the holiday break, he can look forward to hosting an inconsistent Barcelona side.

Set for month out Kubo (knee) will be out for at least a month, according to Japan manager Hajime Moriyasu.
Impact Kubo will at the very least miss the October World Cup qualifiers and could be out longer than that as he looks to recover from a knee injury. The midfielder has been in flying form with rumors of Real Madrid looking to extend his contract after his excellent showing on loan at Mallorca. Kubo will look for a late October return at the soonest, in the meantime Ruiz de Galarreta could fill in for the playmaker.

Impact Kubo was active in attack on Friday but he is still looking to get on the score sheet himself for the first time this season. After the international break he will face Bilbao, which have conceded one goal in two La Liga matches.
AUGUST 27, 2021 • ROTOWIRE
Back with Mallorca Kubo rejoined Mallorca from Real Madrid on loan through the end of the season.
Impact Kubo can't seem to find a permanent home just yet but maybe that's a sign of his talent, as Real Madrid still wish to hold his rights and let him flourish where he can play. After a mixed bag of performances last season while on loan with Villarreal and Getafe, he returns to the Island club, where he scored four goals and provided four assists in 35 appearances back in the 2019/20 season. More recently, an impressive run at the Olympics during Japan's time as hosts put him back on the map and made sure there was plenty of interest for his signature. As a result, it will be interesting to see if his numbers improve now that he's further along in his career.

Assists in loss to Mexico Kubo took two shots (none on target), created six scoring chances, put in three crosses, drew three fouls and contributed an assist in Friday's 3-1 loss to Mexico.
Impact Kubo wasn't very impressive overall despite his six chances created during Friday's defeat. He set up Kaoru Mitoma's late goal, which was not enough for the Japanese side. Kubo ended with three goals and one assist in six Olympics matches. His future is still unclear with Real Madrid likely to loan him again, though he should have a short vacation period at the beginning of the season anyway.
