Brandon Bye - Lands with Portland
Bye signed with Portland on a deal through June 2028, the club announced.
Impact
Bye was in negotiations with New England, but evidently the two sides couldn't come to an agreement. The defender is now headed out west to join up with Portland. He should be an immediate contender for starting minutes in Portland, and if nothing else he's an excellent veteran defender.

Kamal Miller - Completes second season with Portland
Miller recorded 27 starts in 28 MLS appearances (including the playoffs) for Portland during the 2025 season.
Impact
Miller endured another injury-plagued season, falling short of 30 appearances yet again, however he remained a starter in Portland's back line. He contributed two goals and added 117 clearances, 28 interceptions, and 13 blocks. Despite time on the sidelines, he surpassed 2,000 minutes for the second straight year, a positive sign for his durability. Entering the final year of his contract, Portland will decide whether to exercise his 2027 option based on his fitness and reliability in 2026.

Jimer Fory - Makes 26 starts for the Timbers
Fory recorded 26 starts in 29 MLS appearances (including the playoffs) during the 2025 season.
Impact
Fory capped off his first full MLS season on a strong note, despite battling a few injuries along the way. He still managed to contribute two assists, along with 45 tackles and 114 clearances across 2,226 minutes of play. At just 23 years old, his durability concerns shouldn't hinder his role in 2026, as he's expected to remain a regular starter following a promising campaign.

Finn Surman - Starts all 35 matches played in 2025
Surman started 35 of the 35 games played (including the playoffs) for Portland during the 2025 MLS season.

He tallied 247 clearances, 44 tackles, and 41 blocks while staying fit, logging over 3,000 minutes of play. Looking ahead, his future with Portland appears bright as he's expected to see significant playing time in 2026 again and is even in contention for New Zealand's World Cup roster next summer.

Kristoffer Velde - Valuable add for Portland
Velde made a start in all 12 appearances (including the playoffs) for Portland during the 2025 MLS season.
Impact
Velde joined Portland late in the season, but quickly became a key attacking presence, helping spark the team's playoff push. In just 12 appearances, he scored twice, added two assists, created 36 chances, and delivered 70 crosses (16 accurate). With a three-year contract in place, the midfielder is expected to start in 2026 as he prepares for his first full MLS campaign.

Ariel Lassister - Four starts this season
Lassiter recorded four starts in 23 MLS appearances (including the playoffs) during the 2025.
Impact
Lassiter has spent recent seasons moving between MLS clubs and completed his first year with the Timbers in 2025. Struggling for consistency, he slipped down the depth chart, featuring in only 23 matches, starting only four. Injuries contributed to his limited impact, though he managed three assists and created 10 chances in 542 minutes of play. Entering the final year of his two-year contract with Portland, he is expected to maintain a similar role next season.

Antony recorded 30 starts in 32 MLS appearances (including the playoffs) during the 2025 season.
Impact
Antony delivered an impressive season for Portland in 2025, finishing as the team's leader in both goals and assists. Across 32 matches, he scored seven times and provided seven assists, while also creating 64 chances and recording 51 tackles. James Pantemis - Will return in 2026
Pantemis' option for 2026 was picked up, Portland announced.
Impact
Pantemis seems to have won the long-term goalkeeping battle in Portland, as Maxime Crepeau will depart the club. Pantemis ended the season as the starter and seems set to open 2026 with the top job. He kept four clean sheets in 23 starts and made 90 saves in that span. Trey Muse is the only other goalkeeper currently on the roster heading into 2026.

Trey Muse - Option extended
Muse will return to Portland in 2026 after his option was picked up, Portland announced.
Impact
Muse didn't appear in 2025 and has yet to make his MLS debut, but has enough promise that Portland decided to pick up his option. He will remain a depth option for 2026 likely filling the second or third spot on the depth chart unless he impresses in a big way in pre-season.

Felipe Mora - Returning to Portland
Mora is returning to Portland after his option for 2026 was picked up, Portland announced.
Impact
Mora is back for a seventh season with Portland after his contract option for 2026 was picked up. The forward has been a solid piece of the starting XI in each of the past two seasons, though 2025 was disappointing for Mora. He scored seven goals and added three assists, while creating only 18 chances. Mora is still looking for his second season surpassing 2,000 minutes during his time in MLS.

ROTOWIRE
Gage Guerra - Option for 2026 taken
Guerra's option for 2026 was picked up, Portland announced.
Impact
Guerra played just eight times for Portland last season, making no starts and scoring once in that limited role. The forward showed enough that Portland made the decision to bring him back for another season. Guerra isn't likely to take on a larger role during his second season in MLS.

Diego Chara - Will return in 2026
Chara's contract option for 2026 was picked up, Portland announced.
Impact
Chara is set to return to Portland, despite his role dwindling throughout 2025. The midfielder played just 1,511 minutes in his eighth season with Portland. Chara started the final four matches of the season, and should be a veteran option for 2026 when he's back with the club.

Ayala's option for 2026 was picked up, Portland announced.
Impact
Ayala's contract option for 2026 was picked up after a second season as a major starter. The midfielder scored twice and assisted once in 2,935 minutes total. He projects as a huge part of the midfield through 2026 taking a defensive role in any formation Portland switch to.

James Pantemis - Fives saves in heavy loss
Pantemis made five saves and allowed four goals in Sunday's 4-0 defeat against San Diego FC.
Impact
Pantemis made five saves during Sunday's loss, spelling a disappointing end to his campaign. He split time throughout the season, but in the end he took the larger share of starts. Pantemis finished the campaign with 23 starts and 90 saves while allowing 35 goals and keeping four clean sheets. It was an impressive showing behind a defense that struggled throughout the campaign.

Kevin Kelsy - Four shots in elimination
Kelsy registered four shots (one on goal) and one chance created in Sunday's 4-0 loss to San Diego FC.
Impact
Kelsy took four shots during Sunday's clash, ending his MLS season with a disappointing showing. His volume was decent but he couldn't trouble the San Diego net, and he ended up with just a single shot on goal. Kelsy was solid during his first season in Portland, scoring seven times and adding a pair of assists while setting career-highs across the board. Kelsy is still improving and has plenty of room to grow as a central figure in the attack.
