Impact Longstaff got a few starts to close the season but only because others in the squad were injured. It's interesting to see what his future holds at Newcastle after making 15 starts each of the past two seasons, as the club is expected to sign a few players in the offseason. Unless he shows massive improvement at 24, it's hard to see him having a bigger role in future seasons.

He finished the campaign with two assists from 28 chances created, 104 crosses, 22 tackles and 23 clearances in 18 appearances (14 starts).

Impact Longstaff matched his second-best mark in tackles in the season to help them earn the road win, but had a quiet outing other than that. The midfielder completed the season with 54 tackles overall, plus 18 clearances and 15 shots in 24 appearances (15 starts). He will look to improve his numbers in the 2022-23 campaign, though that may be difficult to do at Newcastle.

He could be the team's No. 1 next season, but those details probably won't be confirmed until the summer.
