Undergoes hip surgery Miazga underwent an operation to repair an entrapped nerve in his hip, FC Cincinnati announced Monday, and he is expected to miss the beginning of preseason while he recovers.
Impact Miazga immediately became a starter when he joined Cincinnati in the summer, but he's just had a minor operation on his hip. However, FCC manager Pat Noonan told Queen City Press's Laurel Pfahler Monday that Miazga is slightly ahead of schedule and is expected to be fully fit by the time the 2023 MLS campaign kicks off in late February.

Impact Miazga immediately broke into FCC's lineup upon his arrival -- finally breaking free from Chelsea's loan army -- and he already has two goals and one clean sheet in MLS to his name. The 27-year-old center-back should continue as a starter alongside Nick Hagglund and Ian Murphy heading into 2023.

Impact This was a nice showing for Miazga, who was able to clear his lines more effectively than anyone else on the pitch Tuesday. Since joining the squad in mid-August, he's averaging just over four clearances per game but is still sitting at just one clean sheet in eight appearances.

Impact Miazga had solid numbers here but also made life difficult for his side with some critical errors. In the 35th minute, the center-back was caught ball-watching while Maikel Chang appeared just behind him to head the ball home. Then, just before halftime, his bizarre giveaway forced the goalkeeper to bring down an opponent inside the box. Luckily for Cincinnati, Roman Celentano saved the penalty to preserve the 1-1 draw. Miazga is still to play his best football since returning from Europe is still locked-up in the starting XI for the foreseeable future.
