Takes two shots in start
Mateta took two shots and made two clearances in Saturday's 1-1 draw against Brighton.
Impact
Mateta started Saturday for just the second time since early September in the Premier League. He's still mostly the backup option to Odsonne Edouard, but he is averaging 2.8 shots per 90 minutes since the World Cup break.

Quiet off bench versus Newcastle
Mateta had one shot on goal and made two clearances after coming off the bench during Saturday's scoreless draw against Newcastle.
Impact
Mateta was brought in the 64th minute to replace injured Wilfried Zaha and wasted was was probably his side's biggest scoring chance, although the goalkeeper made a great job to deny his shot. Other than that, the striker couldn't offer much impact while he was on the pitch. The extension of Zaha's injury is still to be known, but Mateta will very likely be on pole position to start if Palace's star can't recover for Feb. 4 visit to Manchester United.

Scores off bench in win
Mateta scored one goal from two shots (one on goal) in 20 minutes off the bench during Saturday's 3-1 win over Aston Villa.
Impact
Mateta has come off the bench in his first two appearances of the season but now has his first goal. There's still an active competition for starts between Mateta, Odsonne Edouard and Jordan Ayew, so it may take a few more weeks to find out who has the best fantasy value on a regular basis.

Sees more time in second half
Mateta finished with five goals and one assist from 37 shots and seven chances created in 22 league appearances (13 starts) last season.
Impact
Mateta saw about the same amount of time this season as he had at Mainz the prior couple campaigns, but more importantly he was often the starter in the second half of the season. That's a positive take away for the striker, who managed just one start until the calendar turned to 2022. He figures to fight for time with Odsonne Edouard next season, while Christian Benteke is possibly set for an exit.

Impact
Mateta opened the scoring Saturday, and he now has three goals in his last five Premier League starts. He has started just six matches all season however as he's behind Odsonne Edouard and Christian Benteke in the depth chart, but Mateta's recent performances have to have pushed him back into the conversation at striker.

Signs permanent deal with Palace
Mateta has signed a four-and-a-half-year deal with Crystal Palace, ending his loan from Mainz.
Impact
Mateta has apparently made a good impression in the past year despite making only 14 league appearances, five of them being starts. His role figures to grow over the years, something that could happen if Christian Benteke leaves the club this summer.

Assists Sunday
Mateta provided one assist on one chance created during Sunday's 3-1 loss to Liverpool.
Impact
Mateta set up Odsonne Edouard for the only Palace goal of the match. The forward has started to establish himself in the starting XI of late, though unfortunately that still keeps him out of contention as a consistent fantasy play. He is worth considering if he starts against Norwich after the international break.

Scores in start
Mateta scored one goal from four shots (three on target) in 81 minutes of Tuesday's 3-0 win over Norwich City.
Impact
Mateta's inclusion and goal is a positive sign for a once-promising talent who's missed a lot of time through injury. As both Mateta and Odsonne Edouard took advantage of a favorable matchup with the Canaries and the absence of Wilfried Zaha (suspension), both could be pushing hard for more opportunities in Saturday's match against West Ham. In that game, Mateta could face a defense that's conceded the joint third-fewest goals in the league to forwards.

Only 57 minutes so far
Mateta has started just one of Crystal Palace's three games so far this season.
Impact
Mateta opened the season with a start against Chelsea but his 57 minutes were the only minutes of the season so far. The forward will see starts even harder to come by with Palace's deadline day signing of Odsonne Edouard.

Minutes remain limited
Mateta has played 63 minutes in four appearances off the bench in the last 10 matches.
Impact
Mateta received a couple starts early in his loan, but after Christian Benteke found some form, he's barely been an option for Palace. Playing time was always expected to be a problem and it remains unclear why he made the switch in the middle of the season. With another year on his loan, he'll hope to gain some trust from Roy Hodgson over the summer.
