Ibrahima Konate - Soccer News, Rumors, & Updates

Cleared for Villarreal clash Konate (knee) is fit to play in Saturday's La Liga clash against Villarreal after recovering from his injury, according to manager Jose Mourinho.

Impact Konate has made sufficient progress in his recovery after recently resuming full team training while wearing a supportive strap on his right knee. The center-back's availability provides a significant boost to Real Madrid's depleted defense, with Dean Huijsen suspended and both Eder Militao (hamstring) and Raul Asencio (lower leg) sidelined. Given the lack of available options in central defense, Konate could be in line to start against Villarreal, potentially reducing the need to deploy Aurelien Tchouameni or Alvaro Carreras out of position.

Trains with strap on right knee Konate was spotted training with the team on Tuesday and wearing a strap on his right knee, according to Madrid Xtra.

Impact Konate had already been ruled out of Saturday's clash with Villarreal while working his way back from a knee injury, so his return to team training represents an encouraging step in his recovery. Real Madrid are thin at center back, with Dean Huijsen suspended and Eder Militao (hamstring) and Raul Asencio (lower leg) injured, making Konate's progress particularly important. Until he is back to full speed, Aurelien Tchouameni or Alvaro Carreras could be asked to provide emergency cover in central defense.

Set to miss Villarreal contest Konate (knee) is out for the Oct. 10 match against Villarreal as he continues his recovery, according to Joel Del Rio of Marca.

Impact Konate was looking to be tending in the correct direction for Real Madrid's first match back from the break, but that has quickly changed, as it appears the center-back will now miss out. This leaves Real Madrid in a dire situation, as Dean Hujsen is suspended, while Eder Militao (hamstring) and Raul Asencio (lower leg) remain injured. The good news is that Konate is unlikely to miss too much more time, potentially returning after the one match out. Real Madrid will likely look to shift Aurlien Tchouameni or Denzel Dumfries to a more central role, with Alvaro Carreras having a slight chance of starting in Konate's place as well.

Expected back against Villarreal Konate is expected back for Real Madrid's clash against Villarreal on Oct. 10, after dealing with a collateral ligament injury in his right leg, according to COPE.

Impact Konate had picked up the injury during Wednesday's training session with the French national team, ruling him out of the international break, with reports previously reporting an absence of around two weeks. That timeline now points to a return in time for LaLiga's resumption on Oct. 10. If he has to miss more time to recover, Antonio Rudiger will likely be the main option to step in his spot.
