Impact Zardes was reportedly in contract discussions to stay with Colorado, but those discussions apparently never came to fruition. Accordingly, the talented, veteran forward will take his talents south to Austin, where he'll become the newest designated player for this year's MLS semifinalists. Zardes scored nine goals and added two assists as a regular starter for Rapids in 2022 and will look to increase that tally in 2023, though he'll be competing with Maximiliano Urruti and Moussa Djitte for the starting spot up top.
