Rumor Mill: Players looking to switch clubs after lackluster winter window
Angel Di Maria
Rumor: Manchester United to Paris Saint-Germain. // Likelihood: If United can line up a replacement. // The Talk: Following a fairly positive start in a Manchester United shirt -- winning the Red Devils’ September Player of the Month award -- Di Maria has struggled for form since returning from a hamstring injury in January. It is reported that United are ready to take a $15.1 million hit on Di Maria in order to raise funds for a Gareth Bale bid. PSG tried to sign Di Maria in the summer before UEFA imposed a $74 million spending cap after they broke Financial Fair Play rules. But it now appears that the French champions are set to go back in for Di Maria this summer. If everything falls into place it might make sense for all parties if the "Fallen Angel" moved on.

Rumor: Villarreal to Liverpool. // Likelihood: Reds to face a fight. // The Talk: Over the last few months Vietto has been linked with several clubs from world soccer’s biggest leagues. You "Can’t Stop" the 21-year-old at the moment after scoring 18 goals for La Liga side Villarreal and now the starlet looks set to leave in the summer. In the past week, Liverpool have been the latest side to be linked to the youngster’s services, but it won’t be plain sailing for the Merseysiders. The Argentinian’s agent Jorge Cysterpiller was quoted this week in Spanish newspaper AS, saying: “He could sign for Liverpool, we know that he is admired by the Reds, as well as Real Madrid and two Bundesliga clubs. I think he could leave Villarreal in the summer.”

Rumor: PSV to Manchester United. // Likelihood: Backup choice. // The Talk: Ed van Stijn believes Depay has developed better than Cristiano Ronaldo at a similar age. The former Manchester United scout said, "If you compare him to a young Cristiano Ronaldo at the same age, then Depay has more strings to his bow. I like him better.” Then what better place to hone his skills than at Old Trafford? Supposedly he is Manchester United’s backup choice in case they miss out on primary target Gareth Bale. Nevertheless, he seems to be firmly on their radar. And in assistant manager Ryan Giggs, United have an exceptional mentor for any young wingers joining the club. With potential come "Great expectations!"

Rumor: Juventus to PSG, Man Utd, Man City or Chelsea. // Likelihood: Still up in the air. // The Talk: Probably the most talked about potential transfer of the last 12 months. One of the best free transfers in history, Pogba, has taken Serie A by storm since joining Juventus from Manchester United in 2012. The French international would be "The Fix" for most teams in Europe; however the 21-year-old is likely to command a gigantic fee -- sure to put off even the wealthiest of clubs. His agent Mino Raiola told Tuttosport last week, “What are his chances of staying? As of today it’s 99 percent. Juve agree with our approach, which is that they will only sell if Paul asks to leave and there’s a suitable offer. Of course, it could become one percent, it depends on the market.” This isn’t over yet!

Rumor: Dortmund to Arsenal. // Likelihood: A good fit. // The Talk: Aubameyang has "Grounds for Divorce" after Dortmund’s nightmare start to the season leaves them with little chance of a UEFA Champions League place next season. The Gabonese international has been the shining light for Dortmund in an otherwise disappointing season. Arsenal are looking for a striker to help support Alexis Sanchez’s impressive goal return so far this season and Aubameyang could be the perfect foil. The striker is available for $44.1 million, according to the Daily Express and the Gunners shouldn’t have a problem matching the asking price.

Rumor: Arsenal to Manchester City. // Likelihood: Very unlikely. // The Talk: Manchester City are compiling a list of homegrown transfer targets to boost their numbers of players produced in England and Wales. Wilshere reportedly features on the list; however Arsenal also has their quota to fill and will be reluctant to let one of the best English players leave to a rival club. On top of that, Wilshere’s reoccurring injury issues may put off City -- who could turn to Everton midfielder Ross Barkley as another option. It would be one of the surprises of the transfer window if Wilshere turned to "The Blue World."

Rumor: Real Madrid to Manchester United. // Likelihood: Makes perfect sense. // The Talk: Varane has struggled to displace the formidable central defensive partnership of Sergio Ramos and Pepe since he arrived from Lens in 2011. If the rumors are true, then the French international would provide Manchester United with much-needed defensive reinforcements. Following a spate of injuries throughout the season the Red Devils have had to run their defense with a skeleton service. Chelsea have been linked with Varane in the past, but reports believe Manchester United are now in the driving seat. Varane should be able to deliver their defense a "Puncture Repair."

Rumor: Southampton to Arsenal. // Likelihood: Inevitable. // The Talk: As "Mexican Standoffs" go, the one between Morgan Schneiderlin, Southampton and potential suitors is a corker! But who will fire that all-important first shot? The French international tried his best to force a move last summer by handing in a transfer request, but manager Ronald Koeman refused to sell the midfielder. The Saints are likely to struggle keeping him this summer -- even if they qualify for the Champions League -- as his head now seems turned. He told Canal+: “There are clubs that are interested, but I haven't agreed to join anyone. I am concentrating on my matches. I know for sure that something is going to happen.” Keep an eye on this space.

Rumor: Juventus to Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool or Man United. // Likelihood: In the balance. // The Talk: Marchisio’s agent has told the Daily Mirror that “top Premier League clubs” are interested in his client and son. He also revealed his frustration at not being able to agree a deal for Marchisio to stay at Juve. It is a possibility that the agent is commenting on a possible move away in order to force Juventus into offering a new and improved deal. All of the four clubs linked to the Italian could do with a midfielder of Marchisio’s ability -- maybe Chelsea apart. The reality, though, is that he will probably sign a new contract "Any Day Now."

Rumor: Juventus to Liverpool or Arsenal. // Likelihood: A bit premature. // The Talk: Before Morata put pen to paper on a five-year deal at Juventus, a host of Premier League clubs were reportedly tracking the striker. Fast forward eight months and similar rumors have started to surface. Reports say that Real Madrid are willing to waive a buy-back option on the Spanish international in favor of splitting any cash from a sale. The same reports suggest Arsenal and Liverpool would welcome him with "Open Arms" and stump up $90.5 million to complete a deal. Another season at The Old Lady seems more likely if you take into consideration that Morata has only six goals to his name in the league this season.
