Suffers calf injury in first start Alaba has been diagnosed with a left calf injury and is week-to-week, Udinese announced.

Impact Alaba subbed off at halftime after recording two clearances, one interception and one cross. He'll sit out multiple matches due to the nature of his injury and a few short turnarounds. Udinese will turn back to Enzo Ebosse, Matteo Palma and Christian Kabasele.

Signs with Udinese Alaba has agreed to a contract until June 2027 with Udinese.

Impact Alaba heads to Italy after five seasons with Real Madrid and did not play much in the most recent one, also due to a few injuries. He contributed to two clean sheets in 14 appearances (six starts), tallying six tackles, 23 clearances and six blocks in 2025/2026. He'll most likely start over Christian Kabasele or Enzo Ebosse once he's fit after spending the past few months without a team.

Credited with assist in draw Alaba assisted once to go with one corner and one chance created in Saturday's 3-3 draw against Algeria.

Impact The Real Madrid center-back assisted Marko Arnautovic's goal with a perfect long ball that allowed the striker to get in behind the defense and score from close range. Alaba should earn most of his fantasy upside from defensive stats, and with a tough matchup against Spain on the horizon in the Round of 32, he might not be the best option to lead your defense, especially since Austria have yet to keep a clean sheet in the tournament.

Plays full game Alaba recorded one tackle (one won), three clearances and one interception in Monday's 2-0 defeat versus Argentina.

Impact Alaba was Austria's standout defender despite the defeat, producing several crucial interventions including a goal-line clearance and a last-man tackle. He remained composed in possession, completing 44 of 47 passes, while frequently stepping into midfield to create a man advantage in the center of the park.

Limited to under one hour Alaba logged one shot (zero on goal), three clearances, two interceptions and one block across 59 minutes during Tuesday's 3-1 win against Jordan.

Impact Whether or not Alaba is still acclimating to a recent knock, he did not excel against Group J's least proven team. Alaba's lone shot was erratic, and Jordan almost got on the scoresheet earlier due to his failed clearance attempt during stoppage time. Not long after the Jordan team scored, Austria manager Ralf Rangnick underwent a triple substitution, which included Kevin Danso replacing Alaba. Though he is relatively out of form for Austria's next game, being the team captain means his team will look to him to fend off defending World Cup champion Argentina come Monday.

In starting XI against Jordan Alaba (undisclosed) is in the starting lineup for Austria's World Cup opener versus Jordan.

Impact Alaba recovered fully from a slight blow he suffered during a friendly prior to the international competition, and he could be expected to log meaningful time on the pitch Tuesday. The defender has helped his national team through ball recovery stats lately, but he's also valuable as a corner-kick taker, having provided one assist over four starts in the World Cup qualifying stage. His presence from kickoff leaves both Kevin Danso and Marco Friedl on the bench for now.

Rejoins squad in training Alaba (undisclosed) reintegrated into team training after training separately in recent days and should be ready for World Cup opener against Jordan, according to Heute.

Impact Alaba had been training away from the main group in recent days as a precaution after he was withdrawn at half time in Austria's last friendly against Tunisia with slight muscle tightness, the kind of measure teams take to manage workload rather than risk anything. He has since reintegrated with the team and should be available for the opener against Jordan, a huge boost for Austria to have their captain and leader back.

Impact Alaba's condition will be assessed over the coming days before any further clarity emerges on his availability for Austria's opening World Cup fixture against Jordan on June 17, with about two weeks remaining for the captain to prove his fitness. The coaching staff will manage his return carefully given his importance to the Austrian setup, with the nature of the issue appearing precautionary rather than a cause for serious concern at this stage.

Leaving Real Madrid Alaba will no longer play for Real Madrid in upcoming seasons, with the club making his departure official Friday.

Impact Alaba served for the Merengue team from 2021 to 2026 as a defensive contributor who helped obtain titles such as two UEFA Champions Leagues, two La Liga championships and two Club World Cups. Although his involvement was limited by injuries in the last few years, he scored four goals and eight assists across 118 appearances (100 starts) considering league and European action. Additionally, he averaged 1.1 crosses, 1.8 clearances, 0.7 tackles and 0.7 interceptions per game over that period. Having transitioned from winger to center-back throughout his career, the veteran could be an attractive defensive option for many clubs in the near future.

Substitute option Tuesday Alaba (calf) is on the bench for Tuesday's meeting with Manchester City in the second leg of the UCL round of 16.

Impact Alaba was in and out of the initial lineup before getting hurt, but he's now back in the rotation with Dean Huijsen and Antonio Rudiger while Raul Asencio (neck) and Eder Militao (hamstring) are sidelined. The Austrian will look to be a source of defensive stats as soon as he's ready to see meaningful action.

Makes squad list Alaba (calf) is in the squad list for Tuesday's second leg against Manchester City in the Champions League, the club posted.

Impact Alaba has recovered from the calf injury that kept him sidelined for the last three games across all competitions and is back as an option for Tuesday's second leg against Manchester City in the Champions League. The Austrian veteran is still expected to continue in a rotational role for the Merengues moving forward. That said, he could see minutes off the bench in this one since Raul Asencio (neck) is still out due to an injury, which could open the door for Alaba to log a bigger share of playing time.

Ruled out for time being Alaba (calf) remains in treatment and is ruled out for the time being, according to coach Alvaro Arbeloa, per AS. "Alaba won't be available, that's for sure."

Impact Alaba picked up a calf injury in the last match against Getafe and will be sidelined for now as he continues treatment to recover from the issue. This is a tough break for the Merengues, who are already thin at the back due to injuries and suspensions, and Alaba was expected to play a key role during this stretch. That said, Raul Asencio (neck) has returned to full training with the squad and is likely to be back in the mix moving forward while holding the starting spot in central defense.

Still in treatment Alaba (calf) appears to be in doubt for Friday's match against Celta Vigo as he remains in treatment with a calf injury, according to Mechlor Ruiz of Tiempo de Juego.

Impact Alaba is still dealing with his calf injury after exiting Monday's match early and is still in treatment, not yet an option for the club. This leaves him in doubt for their match on Saturday, facing Celta Vigo in league play. The major concern is that they could be heading into their UCL game against Manchester on Tuesday with limited depth in the defense, as Raul Asencio (neck) and Eder Militao (hamstring) are still recovering as well.

Subbed off due to overload Alaba was substituted at halftime of Monday's 1-0 defeat against Getafe due to muscle overload, according to coach Alvaro Arbeloa.

Impact Alaba cracked the starting XI for the second time in three matches but his night was cut short after he picked up a muscular overload that forced him off at halftime in Monday's loss to Getafe. The center-back was replaced by Dean Huijsen, who should continue to handle the starting duties when available, but after Huijsen picked up a yellow card and is now suspended for the next match, Real Madrid suddenly find themselves thin at the back if Alaba is sidelined. Aurelien Tchouameni could be pushed into a deeper role again if Alaba is not fit, especially with Raul Asencio (neck) still a doubt, leaving Madrid scrambling for solutions on the defensive line.
