Injured for Champions League Leyva will miss Thursday's CONCACAF Champions League clash against FC Motagua with an undisclosed injury.

Impact Leyva hasn't featured in the Sounders' preseason so far, and the 18-year-old is staying in Seattle instead of traveling with the team for the second leg of the Round of 16 tie against Motagua. The MLS season begins at the weekend.

Impact Leyva was a solid backup option in central midfield this season, making 24 MLS appearances (eight starts) for Seattle. The 18-year-old will only get better, and along with 19-year-old Joshua Atencio, the Sounders can be excited about the long-term future at the position.

Impact Leyva made his first start of the season and created a match-high in scoring chances despite only playing 60 minutes. Seattle were coming off three days rest, which is the likely reason Leyva came into the starting XI after being a sub in the past two matches. He played well and will be an option heading into Sunday's match against Los Angeles FC.
