Frank Onyeka - Tests positive for COVID-19 Onyeka tested positive for COVID-19 and is not in the squad for Saturday's match against Aston Villa.
Impact Onyeka had started each of the first two matches, so he had to be replaced against Villa with Samman Ghoddos taking the spot in the midfield. With the international break ahead, there's a chance Onyeka could be ready to start Brentford's next match.
AUGUST 28, 2021 • ROTOWIRE
Shandon Baptiste - Continues to be assessed Baptiste has yet to appear this season and continues to be assessed following a return from a knee injury, according to manager Thomas Frank.
Impact Baptiste is recovering from a long-term knee injury, so his inclusion in the squad hasn't been automatic. He's taking things slow and even then, he'll likely only be a bench option this season unless something changes within the squad.
AUGUST 27, 2021 • ROTOWIRE
Mathias Jensen - Edging closer to return Jensen (undisclosed) returned to training this week and could be an option Saturday against Aston Villa, according to manager Thomas Frank.
Impact Jensen is edging closer to a return, but he probably won't start Saturday given his prolonged absence. If all goes well, he'll get a few minutes off the bench Saturday, recover completely over the break, and then be an option to start following the break.
AUGUST 27, 2021 • ROTOWIRE
Ethan Pinnock - Battling ankle issue Pinnock re-injured his ankle in Tuesday's Cup match, but it's not a serious issue, according to manager Thomas Frank. "Ethan is fine. He had contact to the same ankle as last Satur...
Impact Pinnock has an ankle issue that the team will likely hope heals itself over the international break. He picked it up in the draw against Crystal Palace and then started a few days later in the League Cup in which he also went the full 90. He's been a regular on the back line the last couple seasons and that hasn't changed in the Premier League.
AUGUST 25, 2021 • ROTOWIRE
Mads Bech Sorensen - Picks up issue midweek Sorensen was forced off in the first half of Tuesday's Cup match with a possible knee issue.
Impact Getting his first start of the season, Sorensen unfortunately picked up an injury that forced him out just before the break. Even when healthy, he's a backup to new signing Kristoffer Ajer and is unlikely to reach last season's 29 starts.
AUGUST 25, 2021 • ROTOWIRE
Bryan Mbeumo - Active upfront once again Mbuemo took three shots off target, created three chances, sent five crosses (two accurate), took three corners and added two tackles in Saturday's 0-0 draw against Crystal Palace.
Impact Mbuemo has yet to record a goal or an assist in his first two EPL appearances this season, but the French forward has looked quite active while operating all over the attacking third. Mbuemo has racked up five shots, four chances created, six crosses and three corners in two games, but the fact that he's yet to play the full 90 diminishes his value a bit.
AUGUST 23, 2021 • ROTOWIRE
Ivan Toney - Takes five shots in draw Toney attempted five shots (two on target) in Saturday's 0-0 draw against Crystal Palace. He also won one tackle.
Impact Toney didn't do much in the season opener against Arsenal, but he looked far more active this time around and could've scored at least once. The towering forward, who dazzled in the Championship last season, has yet to score in two EPL starts but this outing was clearly a step in the right direction.
AUGUST 23, 2021 • ROTOWIRE
David Raya - Keeps another clean sheet Raya kept a clean sheet and made two saves in Saturday's 0-0 draw against Crystal Palace.
Impact Raya has yet to concede a goal in back-to-back starts and hasn't looked affected by the jump that represents going from the Championship to the Premier League. He has made two saves across two appearances thus far.
AUGUST 23, 2021 • ROTOWIRE
Sergi Canos - Active on right flank Canos created two chances, sent five inaccurate crosses, took two corners, made two tackles, registered one interception and added one clearance in Saturday's 0-0 draw between Bren...
Impact Canos didn't have the same attacking impact he had in the season opener against Arsenal, but he still made his presence felt on both sides of the ball -- he pushed forward every time he had the chance and also contributed defensively when he had to. The Spaniard should be a decent two-way threat going forward.
AUGUST 23, 2021 • ROTOWIRE
Kristoffer Ajer - Makes two clearances Ajer made two clearances, attempted one shot off target, registered one tackle and added one interception in Saturday's 0-0 draw between Brentford and Crystal Palace.
Impact Ajer left the season opener with an ankle problem, but he didn't have problems completing the full 90 this time around. The Norway international has recorded back-to-back two-clearance games to begin the season but hasn't provided much value across the board stat-wise.

Kristoffer Ajer - Stays in starting XI Ajer (ankle) is in the starting XI for Saturday's match against Crystal Palace.
Impact Ajer is healthy enough to make the starting XI Saturday after coming off early in the opener with a minor ankle issue. When healthy, he's a starter on the back line and as long as that's the case, he should be set for some full 90s going forward.

Yoane Wissa, Brentford's new signing who overcame an acid attack to seal his Premier League dream Wissa started as a goalkeeper and almost lost his sight before completing his move to Brentford - but will he bring to Thomas Frank's team
AUGUST 20, 2021 • THEATHLETIC.COM
Mathias Jensen - Will remain out Saturday Jensen (undisclosed) has been training, but he's not an option for Saturday's trip to Crystal Palace, according to Thomas Frank.
Impact Jensen should get another week of training in then be an option for the Aug. 28 trip to Villa. Once ready, he'll have to fight for his starting spot given the new additions. He started 71 matches the last two seasons, something that may come down in the Premier League.
AUGUST 19, 2021 • ROTOWIRE
Kristoffer Ajer - Pictured in training Ajer (ankle) was pictured in training Thursday ahead of Saturday's trip to Crystal Palace.
Impact It looks like Ajer's ankle issue was minor and he'll be ready to start again Saturday. It didn't look serious at the time of injury and his substitution was likely more of a precaution. Still, if he's not ready to start in two days, Mads Bech Sorensen would get the call on the back line.
AUGUST 19, 2021 • ROTOWIRE
Álvaro Fernández - Loaned to Brentford Fernandez has signed a one-year loan deal with Brentford with an option for a permanent transfer from Spanish side Huesca.
Impact Fernandez started 22 matches for Huesca in La Liga last season but after their relegation, he's moving back to a top European League. For now, he's expected to fight for time with David Raya, though he'll likely only be in a backup role unless something changes.
AUGUST 17, 2021 • ROTOWIRE
Mathias Jensen - Slowly making way back Jensen was pictured training with the ball Tuesday after he missed last week's opener because of injury.
Impact It's unknown Jensen's exact injury, as it's been reported that he suffered an ankle injury in the Euros and also has a head wound. Either way, he appears to be edging closer to health and could be an option before the international break.
AUGUST 17, 2021 • ROTOWIRE
Pelenda Da Silva - Pictured with ball Dasilva was pictured training with the ball in his recovery from a hip injury.
Impact Dasilva likely has some time before he's ready for match appearances, as he's been out since February because of this injury. Once healthy, it's a wonder if he'll still have a regular spot in the squad given the presence of Frank Onyeka. Over the last two seasons, he accumulated 62 starts from 75 appearances.
AUGUST 17, 2021 • ROTOWIRE
Vitaly Janelt - Goes full 90 in opener Janelt started and went the full 90 in Friday's win against Arsenal, producing three tackles (two won) and three fouls.
Impact Janelt is more of an enforcer in Brentford's midfield, which won't lead to a ton of fantasy action. He totaled just 16 shots and 26 chances created in 44 Championship appearances last season, meaning he could fail to reach 10 shots and 15 chances from 30 Premier League starts this season.
