Timo Hubers - Back in squad Hubers (knee) is on the bench for Saturday's match against Leipzig.
Impact Hubers is healthy enough to make the bench Saturday after missing the last three contests with a knee injury. He started the opener and could be back in the XI for the team's next match, assuming he's fully fit.
SEPTEMBER 18, 2021 • ROTOWIRE
Jan Thielmann - Back in starting XI Thielmann (illness) is in the starting XI for Saturday's match against Leipzig.
Impact Thielmann is back in the squad Saturday after missing the last two matches, likely because of COVID-19. He seems to be in an attacking position after producing four chances and nine crosses in his first two starts of the season.
SEPTEMBER 18, 2021 • ROTOWIRE
Tim Lemperle - Suffers ankle injury Lemperle sustained an ankle injury in training Wednesday and will not be available versus RB Leipzig on Sunday.
Impact Lemperle has featured exclusively off the bench this season, so his absence is unlikely to impact the starting XI. Through four matches, the forward has logged a combined 54 minutes in which he generated one goal on one shot and two chances created. With Lemperle sidelined, Sebastian Andersson could get more opportunities in a substitute role.
SEPTEMBER 16, 2021 • ROTOWIRE
Florian Kainz - Sent off against Freiburg Kainz took two shots (zero on target), created three chances and received two yellow cards in Saturday's 1-1 draw with Freiburg.
Impact Kainz was busy before being sent off for two bookable offenses. He delivered nine crosses (two accurate), created three chances and took two shots off target. He will now miss the match against RB Leipzig on September 18.
SEPTEMBER 12, 2021 • ROTOWIRE
Jonas Hector - Makes four interceptions in draw Hector created a chance, made four interceptions and won eight duels in Saturday's 1-1 draw against SC Freiburg.
Impact Hector put in a shift defensively, making four interception, won four aerials and eight duels and won one of his two tackles. He's made 15 interception in four games this season and has won three of his six tackles. He faces Leipzig next on September 18.
SEPTEMBER 12, 2021 • ROTOWIRE
Benno Erik Schmitz - Provides assist against Freiburg Schmitz created four chances, delivered five crosses (two accurate) and set up a goal in Saturday's 1-1 draw with Freiburg.
Impact Schmitz paced his team in chances created with four and set up Anthony Modeste's opening goal. It's his second assist of the season. He has created at least three chances in every game he's played in this campaign. His next opponent is RB Leipzig on September 18.
SEPTEMBER 12, 2021 • ROTOWIRE
Rafael Czichos - Scores own goal in draw Czichos won five aerials, made four clearances and scored an own goal in Saturday's 1-1 draw with Freiburg.
Impact Czichos played well but miscued his clearance and put into his own net on 89 minutes. He's been solid defensively so far this season, winning four of five tackles this season along with 13 clearances. His next match is against Leipzig on September 18.
SEPTEMBER 12, 2021 • ROTOWIRE
Timo Horn - Allows a goal in draw Horn made three saves, one clearance and conceded a goal in Saturday's 1-1 draw against SC Freiburg.
Impact Horn was beaten in the 89th minute by an own goal by Rafael Czichos. He now has 10 saves with six goals allowed in four matches. His next match is against Leipzig on September 18.
SEPTEMBER 12, 2021 • ROTOWIRE
Anthony Modeste - Scores in draw Modeste took five shots (one on target), created three chances and scored a goal in Saturday's 1-1 draw with Freiburg.
Impact Modeste continued his good goal scoring form with his third goal of the campaign in the 33rd minute. He's been finding space to get his shots away, averaging 4.75 per game, but has yet to hit the target more than once in a match. He'll face RB Leipzig next on September 18.
SEPTEMBER 12, 2021 • ROTOWIRE
Mark Uth - Creates a chance against Freiburg Uth took three shots (two on target), delivered a cross (zero accurate) and created a chance in Saturday's 1-1 draw with Freiburg.
Impact Uth returned to the starting XI after missing the game against Bochum. He was able to get three shots with two on target and created a chance before being replaced in the 62nd minute by Ellyes Skhiri. His next match is on September 18 against RB Leipzig.
SEPTEMBER 12, 2021 • ROTOWIRE
Jan Thielmann - Begins individual work Thielmann (illness) has begun individual training work but won't be ready to play against SC Freiburg on Saturday, as manager Steffan Baumgart told reporters, "Thielmann started ru...
Impact Thielmann will be sidelined for his second straight contest due to his illness. Prior to falling under the weather, the midfielder logged the full 90 minutes in the opening two contests of the season in which he registered one assist, nine crosses (three accurate) and four chances created.
SEPTEMBER 9, 2021 • ROTOWIRE
Timo Hubers - Not ready to play Hubers (knee) resumed training, as expected, but won't be cleared in time for Saturday's matchup with SC Freiburg. Manager Steffen Baumgart told reporters, "Timo Hubers is back in...
Impact Hubers joined Koln on a free transfer over the the summer before suffering his knee injury after just one match. Once cleared to play, Hubers should again return to being a 90-minute starter for the club but figures to see Jorge Mere continue filling his spot on the pitch in the meantime.
SEPTEMBER 9, 2021 • ROTOWIRE
Timo Horn - Suffers in value during win Horn made zero saves and conceded once in the 2-1 win against Bochum on Saturday.
Impact Horn has been very off and on in his three starts so far this season. In those starts he has made seven saves and conceded five goals. Furthermore, two of those matches he only conceded once. It is very hard to judge how consistent he will be this season and I would look to much safer options for the time being.
AUGUST 28, 2021 • ROTOWIRE
Florian Kainz - Pockets first assist of season Kainz assisted once, produced four shots (one on target), created five chances, sent 15 crosses (five accurate) and took five corners in the 2-1 win against Bochum on Saturday.
Impact Kainz went full-throttle during Koln's win Saturday. The midfielder slotted along the left-flank where he took advantage the entire match. However, the stat line could have been an outlier after he produced more crosses than his first two matches combined (12). Nevertheless, Kainz was easily the best player for Koln offensively and as long as he keeps this form up, he will be one of the best options in the league at his position.
AUGUST 28, 2021 • ROTOWIRE
Anthony Modeste - Falters with poor accuracy in win Modeste took six shots (one on target), created one chance and sent two crosses (one accurate) in the 2-1 win over Bochum on Saturday.
Impact Modeste looked great in the win Saturday, but his shooting accuracy states otherwise. The forward was hungry for a goal and you could tell by his demeanor on the pitch and his shoot first mentality. He had a few great chances, but he could not manage to hit the net to even give himself the chance to score. Nevertheless, Modeste is in crazy form with 14 shots in three matches and two goals to go with it.
AUGUST 28, 2021 • ROTOWIRE
Louis Schaub - Scores off volley in 2-1 win Schaub scored once, took one shot (one on target) and made two tackles (one won) in the 2-1 win against Bochum on Saturday.
Impact Schaub did not need very much time to start producing in the win Saturday, when the midfielder scored minutes after he entered the pitch. The only major problem is all of his value came from the goal and nothing else. In Schaub's three appearances this season, he has one goal, two shots and two tackles. Those numbers are concerning even if he is handed a smaller amount of minutes per match.
AUGUST 28, 2021 • ROTOWIRE
Tomas Ostrak - Shines with limited time Ostrak assisted once, created one chance and sent one cross (one accurate) in the 2-1 win over Bochum on Saturday.
Impact Ostrak saw little to no time in the win Saturday, but the time he did receive was just enough to influence the outcome. Thanks to his excellent run and cross, he set up the game-winning goal in injury stoppage time. This was his first ever senior cap and if he can continue to produce at that rate, he could push for a more consistent position with the club.
AUGUST 28, 2021 • ROTOWIRE
Tim Lemperle - Nets first career goal in 2-1 win Lemperle scored once, took one shot (none on target) and created two chances during the 2-1 win over Bochum on Saturday.
Impact Lemperle has not had much experience thus far in his early career with three total appearances. However, he did show a spark in his most recent outing where he created a few chances and scored an impressive goal. It is still too hard to gauge what he can offer to Koln, but his future does look bright.
AUGUST 28, 2021 • ROTOWIRE
Kingsley Schindler - Back in squad Schindler (undisclosed) is on the bench for Saturday's match against Bochum.
Impact Schindler returns to the side Saturday after missing the first couple matches of the season with an unknown injury. He faces an uphill battle for time, as the last time he got minutes for Koln was the 2019/20 season when he made 13 appearances.
AUGUST 28, 2021 • ROTOWIRE
Mark Uth - Misses training Thursday Uth was absent from Thursday's training session with an undisclosed injury but is expected to return to practice ahead of Saturday's matchup with Bochum. Manager Steffen Baumgart t...
Impact Uth started each of the club's two matches this season, including opening his goal account versus Bayern Munich on Sunday, so he should be in the starting XI if cleared to play. If the forward can't play, Sebastian Andersson would be the most likely player to replace Uth on the pitch.
AUGUST 26, 2021 • ROTOWIRE
Marvin Schwabe - Ruled out Saturday Schwabe (hand) won't be in action against Bochum on Saturday but should resume training following the international break.
Impact Schwabe's lingering hand issue won't impact the starting XI, as Timo Horn is firmly entrenched as the first-choice keeper. Until Schwabe is deemed fully fit, Jonas Urbig figures to serve as the reserve keeper.
AUGUST 26, 2021 • ROTOWIRE
Timo Hubers - Will resume training after break Hubers (knee) is expected back in first-team training following the international break, which means he won't be available against Bochum on Saturday.
Impact Hubers continued absence figures to see Jorge Mere maintain his place in the starting XI for a second straight contest. Once cleared to play, Hubers should retake his place on the pitch but is unlikely to offer much in the way of fantasy value except in formats that value clearances.
AUGUST 26, 2021 • ROTOWIRE
Jan Thielmann - Officially ruled out Thielmann (illness) will not be in the squad to face Bochum on Saturday. Manager Steffen Baumgart told reporters, "Thielmann is ill, he will not be part of the squad this weekend."
Impact Thielmann started both of the club's matches this season in which he recorded one assist, one shot (on target) and nine crosses (three accurate). In Thielmann's stead, Ondrej Duda could make his first star of the season after having previously served exclusively as a substitute option this year. Once healthy, Thielmann should rejoin the starting XI and figures to continue providing solid fantasy value given his ability to push the attack.
AUGUST 26, 2021 • ROTOWIRE
Jan Thielmann - Misses practice due to illness Thielmann was under the weather Wednesday and was held out of team training raising doubts regarding his availability against Bochum on Saturday.
Impact Thielmann has logged the full 90 minutes in each of the club's two contests this year in which he registered one assist, one shot (on target) and nine crosses (three accurate). The midfielder should continue featuring in the starting XI against Bochum if fully fit Saturday otherwise Ondrej Duda or Dominick Drexler could get a look.
AUGUST 25, 2021 • ROTOWIRE
Luca Kilian - Join Koln on loan Kilian will spend the 2021-22 campaign on loan with FC Koln from Mainz.
Impact Kilian logged just one minute off the bench for Mainz through the first two matches of the season. The defender is unlikely to find minutes any easier to come by with his new club, though injuries to Jannes-Kilian Horn (hip) and Timo Hubers (knee) could create some opportunities for Kilian.
