GAME LOG

Dylan Strome - Two-point effort in loss Strome scored an even-strength goal and added a power-play assist in Thursday's 4-3 shootout loss to the Flyers.
Impact The streaky 26-year-old has found a groove, producing four goals and five points over the last four games on the heels of a six-game stretch in which he managed just one helper. Strome is up to 12 goals and 16 points in 26 games on the season, putting him on pace to shatter his previous career high of 23 goals, but his assist numbers may not pick up unless Alex Ovechkin can get going.
DECEMBER 15, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Charlie Lindgren - Falls to Philly in shootout Lindgren stopped 29 of 32 shots in regulation and overtime and one of three shootout attempts in Thursday's 4-3 loss to the Flyers.
Impact It wasn't the sharpest performance from the 29-year-old netminder, who has been inconsistent lately -- Lindgren shut out the Rangers in his last start but has coughed up 10 goals on 92 shots (.891 save percentage) in his other three most recent appearances. Darcy Kuemper is also struggling to find his form, so the duo could remain in a timeshare until one of them heats up.

Evgeny Kuznetsov - Out for Thursday's game Kuznetsov (illness) won't play Thursday versus the Flyers.
Impact Kuznetsov will miss at least one game due to the illness. The 31-year-old had two points over his last three games. With Kuznetsov out, Matthew Phillips is expected to be in the lineup Thursday.
DECEMBER 14, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Charlie Lindgren - Starting in Philadelphia Per Bailey Johnson of The Washington Post, Lindgren was the first goalie off the ice at morning skate, indicating he'll guard the road goal against the Flyers on Thursday.
Impact Lindgren was fantastic in his last start Saturday against the Rangers, stopping all 31 shots he faced en route to a 4-0 victory and his second shutout of the season. The 29-year-old goaltender will try to secure his seventh win of the year in a home matchup with a Flyers team that's 9-4-2 on the road this season.
DECEMBER 14, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Joe Snively - Called up Snively was recalled from AHL Hershey on Thursday, (a href="https://x.com/Tarik_ElBashir/status/1735321977911484723?s=20">Tarik El-Bashir of Monumental Sports Network reports.
Impact Snively will provide some added depth with Sonny Milano (undisclosed) moved to the injured list and Max Pacioretty (achilles) still working his way back into the lineup. The Virginia native has notched seven goals and 21 points in 25 games with AHL Hershey thus far in the 2022-23 campaign.
DECEMBER 14, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Sonny Milano - Heads to IR Milano (undisclosed) was placed on injured reserve Thursday, Tarik El-Bashir of Monumental Sports Network reports.
Impact The nature of Milano's injury remains unclear, but the winger only has one goal in his last nine games so this may be something that has just been nagging him. Joe Snively has been recalled from AHL Hershey and will be in the mix with Matthew Phillips for added playing time in the interim.

Wizards, Capitals would move to Virginia in tentative deal
Max Pacioretty - Sporting non-contact jersey Pacioretty (Achilles) practice with the team for the first time Wednesday, albeit wearing a non-contact sweater, Bailey Johnson of The Washington Post reports.
Impact Pacioretty appears to be slowly working his way back into shape but will need to be cleared for contact before he truly returns to action. Still, Wednesday's practice session is a step in the right direction. Once up to full game speed, Pacioretty could be in line for a top-six role with the Caps, including linking up with one of the power-play units.

Washington visits Philadelphia after Dowd's 2-goal game

The Washington Capitals visit the Philadelphia Flyers after Nic Dowd scored two goals in the Capitals' 4-2 win against the Chicago Blackhawks
DECEMBER 13, 2023 • Associated Press
Clay Stevenson - Inks three-year deal Stevenson agreed to terms on a three-year, $2.325 million contract with Washington on Tuesday.
Impact Stevenson's deal is two-way during the first season before converting to a one-way contract starting with the 2025-26 campaign. The timing of the one-way clause coincides with the expiration of backup Charlie Lindgren's deal and would seem to indicate that Stevenson is poised to take over the No. 2 job in the future.
DECEMBER 12, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Joel Edmundson - Dishes helper Sunday Edmundson tallied an assist and a plus-3 rating during Sunday's 4-2 win over the Blackhawks.
Impact The assist marks the first point for Edmundson -- who missed the first 14 games of the season recovering from a broken hand-- in 11 games with the Capitals. The 30-year-old plays a simple, steady game on the back end, but he is not enough of an offensive contributor to garner much fantasy consideration.
DECEMBER 11, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Anthony Mantha - Scores again Sunday Mantha tallied a goal on two shots in Sunday's 4-2 win over Chicago.
Impact Mantha got the Caps on the board midway through the second period, gathering a nifty feed from Connor McMichael before sliding a backhander past Arvid Soderblom on a partial breakaway. The 29-year-old Mantha now has goals in back-to-back games and points in three straight contests. He's up to seven goals and 10 points through 21 games in a top-six role with Washington this season.
DECEMBER 11, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Beck Malenstyn - Pair of helpers in win Malenstyn logged two assists in Sunday's 4-1 win over Chicago.
Impact Malenstyn set up both of Nic Dowd's goals Sunday, one in the second period and another in the third. It's the first multi-point game of the year for Malenstyn, who hadn't logged a point in his previous 10 games. Overall, the 25-year-old winger has six points (two goals, four assists) through 25 games in a fourth-line role with Washington. He's also contributed 65 hits and 35 blocked shots.
DECEMBER 11, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Nic Dowd - Scores twice in win Dowd tallied a pair of goals in Sunday's 4-2 win over the Capitals.
Impact Dowd extended Washington's lead to 3-1 in the second period before adding a second goal in the final frame, beating Arvid Soderblom with a wrister through traffic. It's the first multi-point game of the season for Dowd -- he now has three goals in his last five games after posting just two points (a goal and an assist) through his first 10 contests.
DECEMBER 11, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Darcy Kuemper - Makes 32 saves in win Kuemper stopped 32 of 34 shots in Sunday's 4-2 win over Chicago.
Impact It was a promising outing for Kuemper, who'd gone 1-3-0 with an .874 save percentage over his previous four starts. The 33-year-old Kuemper improved to 6-6-2 with an .892 save percentage and 3.13 GAA on the season. While Charlie Lindgren could continue to see more starting chances, Kuemper still appears to be the top option in Washington for the time being.

Darcy Kuemper - Tending twine Sunday Kuemper will defend the road net Sunday against Chicago, per Bailey Johnson of The Washington Post.
Impact Kuemper was pulled early in Monday's 6-0 loss to Arizona after allowing three goals on five shots. He has registered a 5-6-2 record this season with a 3.22 GAA and an .887 save percentage through 13 games played. Chicago is tied with the Capitals for 30th in the league with 2.42 goals per contest this campaign.

Sonny Milano - Returns from scratch with bang Milano scored the game-winning goal Saturday in a 4-0 victory over the Rangers.
Impact He scored from the bottom of the left circle off a cross-crease pass from Martin Fehervary. Milano was a healthy scratch Thursday in the Caps' shootout loss to the Stars, and before that, he had gone seven games without a point. With eight points in 22 games this season, Milano isn't consistent enough to be a fantasy contributor.
DECEMBER 10, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Tom Wilson - Goal scorer's goal in win Wilson scored a goal Saturday in a 4-0 win over the Rangers.
Impact It his fifth goal (six points) in five games. What was most impressive is that Wilson stole the puck, sped down the ice and called off Alex Ovechkin on a 2-on-1 to rip the puck over Igor Shesterkin's glove. You'd think he was the greatest goal scorer in the league. Wilson had just one shot Saturday, but he has been ripping pucks at a record pace this season. If he can stay healthy, Wilson will top 225 shots and hits, and score 30 goals. That kind of fantasy impact is almost unheard of in today's NHL, and that's why it's so valuable.
DECEMBER 10, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Charlie Lindgren - In record book with shutout Lindgren made 31 saves in a 4-0 win over the Rangers on Saturday.
Impact Lindgren's second shutout of the season came against his younger brother Ryan Lindgren and the Rangers. Charlie became the fourth goalie in NHL history to record a shutout against his brother. He has been exceptional this season, earning a 6-2-1 record in nine starts with a 2.34 GAA and a .931 save percentage.
