Trevor van Riemsdyk - Unavailable Saturday Van Riemsdyk (illness) will miss Saturday's game against Boston.
Impact Van Riemsdyk has eight assists, a minus-11 rating, 48 shots, five hits and 54 blocks in 40 contests this season. It will be his second straight absence due to the illness. Ethan Bear is expected to remain in the lineup Saturday, but he might be a healthy scratch once van Riemsdyk is ready to return.
FEBRUARY 10, 2024 • ROTOWIRE
Charlie Lindgren - Slated to start Saturday Lindgren is expected to start in Saturday's road game against Boston, per Bailey Johnson of The Washington Post.
Impact Lindgren has struggled mightily recently, losing his last three appearances while allowing 14 goals on 75 shots (.813 save percentage). That's dropped him to 9-7-4 with a 2.70 GAA and a .912 save percentage in 22 outings. It will be difficult to rebound against Boston, which is in a three-way tie for sixth offensively with 3.45 goals per game.

Connor McMichael - Snags power-play helper McMichael earned a power-play assist in Thursday's 4-2 loss to Florida.
Impact McMichael has found himself playing a bigger role with the man advantage while Evgeny Kuznetsov (personal) is away from the team. With his marker, the 23-year-old McMichael brought an eight-game pointless streak to a close, though he remains stuck in a 13-game goal drought saying back to Jan. 3 against the Devils. Thanks to the increased role, McMichael should start producing with slightly more consistency.

Capitals bring losing streak into game against the Bruins

The Washington Capitals aim to break a six-game skid with a win against the Boston Bruins
FEBRUARY 9, 2024 • Associated Press
Darcy Kuemper - Strong in loss Kuemper made 37 saves in a 4-2 loss to the Panthers on Thursday. He allowed three goals.
Impact He was a busier man Thursday -- opponent Sergei Bobrovsky made 20 saves. And Kuemper was the reason that the game was as tight as it was. It was a strong performance, but a rare one for the struggling goalie. Kuemper is in a time share, and since the December holiday break, he is 3-7-0 with one shutout and 35 goals allowed. He has allowed five goals in four of those losses. Choose a different option in your blue paint until the Caps find their game again.
FEBRUARY 9, 2024 • ROTOWIRE
Alex Ovechkin - Finally warming up Ovechkin scored a power-play goal in a 4-2 loss to Florida on Thursday.
Impact It was classic Ovie -- a power-play snipe from his office on the left circle. After a slow start, he has 13 points (five goals, eight assists) in his past 13 games. He has a goal in each of his last three games and five points on a four-game point streak. Ovechkin has 833 snipes on his march to try to move past Wayne Gretzky (894) on the all-time goal list.

Trevor van Riemsdyk - Out due to illness Van Riemsdyk (illness) won't play Thursday versus the Panthers, Bailey Johnson of The Washington Post reports.
Impact Van Riemsdyk was initially announced to be sitting out after the morning skate, but it's not a healthy scratch. The 32-year-old defenseman has two helpers over his last 10 games and was scratched four times in January, so he is far from an everyday player at this point. Ethan Bear will draw into the lineup Thursday.
FEBRUARY 8, 2024 • ROTOWIRE
Matthew Phillips - Draws into lineup Phillips will play on the fourth line Thursday against the Panthers, Bailey Johnson of The Washington Post reports.
Impact Phillips has been serving as a healthy scratch for the last 12 games, having last played on Jan. 5. The 25-year-old forward has one goal and five points in 26 games with the Capitals this season.
FEBRUARY 8, 2024 • ROTOWIRE
Darcy Kuemper - Tending twine Thursday Kuemper will be in the visiting crease in Florida on Thursday, Bailey Johnson of The Washington Post reports.
Impact Kuemper has started only twice in the last nine games, but did see action Tuesday, after Charlie Lindgren was pulled in the opening period against Montreal. Kuemper has relinquished his role as the No. 1 netminder with the Capitals to Lindgren, as Kuemper is 11-11-2 with a 3.19 GAA and an .892 save percentage this season. The Panthers are averaging 3.16 goals per game, 14th in the NHL.

Capitals bring losing streak into game against the Panthers

The Washington Capitals are looking to stop a five-game losing streak with a win against the Florida Panthers
FEBRUARY 7, 2024 • Associated Press
Darcy Kuemper - Thrust into duty Kuemper entered the game between the pipes Tuesday when starter Charlie Lindgren was pulled. He made 15 saves in relief.
Impact After Charlie Lindgren allowed three goals halfway into the first period, Kuemper came off the bench to take over in the net. He was solid in relief but didn't get any offensive support from his teammates. Kuemper ended the game with 15 saves on 17 shots for a .882 save percentage in 46:51 TOI. A starter has yet to be announced in net for Washington's road game against the Panthers on Thursday.
FEBRUARY 7, 2024 • ROTOWIRE
Charlie Lindgren - Pulled in the first period Lindgren allowed three goals in Tuesday's 5-2 loss to the Canadiens.
Impact The Canadiens peppered Lindgren with nine shots in the first period, finding the back of the net on three of them until he was eventually relieved of his duties. Darcy Kuemper took over between the posts 13:07 into the game and played solid but his teammates were unable to give him the offensive production needed for the win. Lindgren ended the contest with just six saves, a .667 save percentage and four straight losses.
