Ethen Frank - Scores first career NHL goal Saturday Frank scored an even-strength goal on his only shot in Saturday's 4-1 win over the Predators.

Impact It took just two games for Frank to pot his first career NHL goal, and he's registered a point in each of his first two contests with the Caps. The 26-year-old is slotting in on the third line and has pushed Jakub Vrana out of the lineup as a result. Frank will look to extend his point streak to three games Tuesday against the Ducks.

Alex Ovechkin - Moves closer to Gretzky's record Ovechkin netted a goal on two shots and added a helper in Saturday's 4-1 win over Nashville.

Impact Ovechkin registered the secondary assist on Tom Wilson's power-play tally to open the scoring in the middle frame, and he sealed the win with an empty-net tally. The 39-year-old's two-point effort Saturday snapped a three-game point drought. Ovechkin is now 22 markers away from breaking Wayne Gretzky's NHL record of 894 goals with 39 games remaining in 2024-25. The Russian winger is up to 20 goals, 32 points and a plus-13 rating through 27 appearances.

Logan Thompson - Sharp in Saturday's win Thompson allowed a goal on 33 shots in Saturday's 4-1 win over the Predators.

Impact Filip Forsberg scored on the power play in the second period, but nothing else got by Thompson. It was more impressive the 27-year-old goalie was able to play so well after playing two-plus periods in Friday's 3-2 overtime loss to the Canadiens following an upper-body injury to Charlie Lindgren. Thompson has won six of his last seven appearances while allowing a total of 13 goals in that span. He's 18-2-3 with a 2.32 GAA and a .919 save percentage over 23 outings. Thompson has thrived in a timeshare this year, but the No. 1 job is his alone during Lindgren's absence, so fantasy managers may want to monitor how Thompson fares under a heavier workload.

Charlie Lindgren - Lands on IR Lindgren (upper body) was placed on injured reserve Saturday, Tom Gulitti of NHL.com reports.

Impact Lindgren won't be eligible to play until at least Jan. 18 against Pittsburgh after moving to the IR list. He sustained the injury in Friday's 3-2 overtime loss to Montreal. Lindgren has a 10-8-2 record with a 2.65 GAA and a .900 save percentage across 21 appearances this season. Washington summoned Hunter Shepard from AHL Hershey in a corresponding move to occupy the backup role behind Logan Thompson.
