Impact Bennett had the lone helper on the first of Mikael Backlund's two goals in the third period. The 24-year-old Bennett has assists in three straight games, lifting his season output to 10 points in 37 contests. He's added 73 hits, 67 shots, 19 PIM and a minus-16 rating in a bottom-six role.

Impact Hanifin helped out on Andrew Mangiapane's tally in the second period. The assist ended a three-game mini-slump for Hanifin. The 24-year-old blueliner has recorded 12 points, 76 shots, 34 blocked shots and a minus-2 rating through 40 contests this year. Nine of his points have come in the last 16 games.

Impact Lindholm helped out on Andrew Mangiapane's tally in the second period and a shorthanded Mikael Backlund goal in the third. The 26-year-old Lindholm has been one of the Flames' most consistent forwards this year with 33 points, 88 shots on net, 46 hits and a plus-4 rating in 40 games. Expect the Swede to continue working in a top-line role.

Impact Mangiapane got the Flames on the board at 18:06 of the second period. He also took a double-minor for high-sticking in the third period which nullified any chance of the Flames making a comeback. The 25-year-old winger has 12 goals, 21 points, 59 shots on net, 22 PIM and a minus-5 rating through 40 contests this season.

Strikes twice in loss Backlund scored two goals, including one while shorthanded, on five shots in Monday's 5-3 loss to the Maple Leafs.

Impact Backlund was fairly effective Monday, but he was the exception to the rule among Flames skaters. The 32-year-old Swede has two goals and three assists in his last five outings. For the season, Backlund's produced eight goals, 22 points, 104 shots on net and a minus-9 rating in 38 contests. Five of his points have come on the power play and another two have come shorthanded.

Impact Markstrom's losing skid hit six games with the rough outing against the Maple Leafs. The 31-year-old dropped to 12-14-2 with a 3.02 GAA and an .898 save percentage in 28 appearances. The Flames as a whole are in a tailspin, and Markstrom hasn't been able to bail them out. They're back in action Saturday versus the Oilers, which gives head coach Darryl Sutter a few days to work some things out in practice.
