Not available for start of camp Mukhamadullin (lower body) will not be available for the beginning of training camp Thursday.

Impact Mukhamadullin did not play in rookie games last week, but he was expected to be ready for the start of training camp, so he may have had a setback. Mukhamadullin will compete for a job on the bottom pairing and if he is not able to garner a spot, returning to AHL San Jose is likely, as he needs playing time.

Won't play in rookie games Mukhamadullin is dealing with general soreness and won't play in any rookie games for the Sharks, Max Miller of The Hockey News reports Friday.

Impact Mukhamadullin is expected to be good to go for main camp, which suggests the issue is indeed a minor one. The 22-year-old blueliner will be competing for a depth role with the Sharks, though it's likely he'll see some time with AHL San Jose in 2024-25.

Sent to AHL Mukhamadullin was reassigned to AHL San Jose on Thursday, Curtis Pashelka of The San Jose Mercury News reports.

Impact The Sharks don't play again until Feb. 14, so it's no surprise that Mukhamadullin was sent down. He will play in the AHL All-Star game Feb. 5 and get in four AHL games before he will be recalled by the Sharks. Mukhamadullin picked up his first career NHL point in three games Wednesday, as he had a power play assist on Anthony Duclair's first period goal. Mukhamadullin is already a top-four defenseman with the Sharks and will eventually play on the top unit, as well as seeing first power-play time.

Earns first point Mukhamadullin notched a power-play assist, two shots on goal, six blocked shots, two hits and two PIM in Wednesday's 3-2 overtime loss to the Ducks.

Impact Mukhamadullin needed three games to earn his first NHL point, and he did it on an Anthony Duclair power-play goal in the first period. Since his promotion Jan. 25, Mukhamadullin has immediately jumped into a top-four role, and he looks like he belongs there. He's racked up five shots on net, 11 blocks, three hits, four PIM and an even plus-minus rating. The Sharks are missing three blueliners, but Mukhamadullin is making a strong case to stay in the lineup, especially if the team trades away some veterans before the March 8 deadline.

Ascends to top level Mukhamadullin was recalled from AHL San Jose on Thursday.

Impact Mukhamadullin was the big piece the Sharks wanted from New Jersey when they sent Timo Meier to the Devils 11 months ago. The 22-yearold was selected 20th overall in 2020. Mukhamadullin had five goals and 26 points in 39 AHL games before his recall. He could replace Kyle Burroughs on the Sharks blue line when they face Buffalo on Saturday.
