Sam Poulin - Drops to minors
Poulin was reassigned to AHL Wilkes-Barre/Scranton on Tuesday.
Impact
Poulin has not recorded a point while averaging 13:49 of ice time over two appearances with Pittsburgh this season. The 2019 first-round pick (No. 21 overall) will link back up with the minor-league squad, with whom he has banked seven goals, 15 points and a plus-8 rating across 16 appearances in 2025-26.

Tristan Jarry - Might return Wednesday
Jarry (lower body) could be in the lineup against the Sabres on Wednesday after head coach Dan Muse told reporters, "I would expect that he would be available for us tomorrow," Pen...
Impact
Jarry's return to the lineup doesn't necessarily mean he'll get the starting nod, especially with both Arturs Silovs and Sergei Murashov still on the lineup -- though Murashov could be sent back to AHL Wilkes-Barre/Scranton in order to activate Jarry off injured reserve. Prior to his injury absence, Jarry was putting together a strong start to the year, going 5-2-0 with a 2.60 GAA and one shutout.

Ville Koivunen - Ready for contact
Koivunen (lower body) has been medically cleared for contact, Seth Rorabaugh of Tribune-Review Sports reports Monday.
Impact
Koivunen didn't participate in line rushes at Monday's practice, but seems to be trending in the right direction ahead of Wednesday's clash with the Sabres. Even if the 22-year-old winger is ready to play versus Buffalo, he could find himself serving as a healthy scratch in favor of Tristan Broz, who was recalled from the minors Monday.

ROTOWIRE
Peyton Kettles - Secures entry-level deal
Kettles agreed to terms on a three-year, entry-level contract with Pittsburgh on Monday.
Impact
Kettles was putting together a good start to the 2025-26 campaign, notching three points in five WHL contests. Unfortunately, the 18-year-old blueliner's 2025-26 campaign was effectively ended when he underwent shoulder surgery Friday that will require a 6-7 month recovery timeline. Even with a lengthy absence, Kettles could push for a spot on the Opening Night roster for the 2026-27 campaign.

ROTOWIRE
Bryan Rust - Dealing with illness
Rust (illness) won't participate in Monday's practice.
Impact
Rust still has some time to recover ahead of Wednesday's matchup against Buffalo. He has accumulated five goals, 15 points, 45 shots on net and 20 blocked shots through 19 appearances this season. If Rust misses game action, Tristan Broz could make his NHL debut after being recalled from AHL Wilkes-Barre/Scranton on Monday.

Jack St. Ivany - Goes on conditioning assignment
St. Ivany (lower body) was reassigned to AHL Wilkes-Barre/Scranton for a conditioning loan Monday.
Impact
St. Ivany has slowly been working his way back from his lower-body issue, most recently practicing in a regular jersey at practice Friday. In his 19 appearances last year, the 26-year-old blueliner registered one assist, 38 hits and 12 shots while averaging 16:22 of ice time. The Baby Pens suit up versus AHL Hershey on Wednesday, which means St. Ivany is unlikely to play for Pittsburgh before Friday's trip to Columbus.

ROTOWIRE
Harrison Brunicke - Reassigned for conditioning
Brunicke was sent down to AHL Wilkes-Barre/Scranton on a conditioning loan Monday.
Impact
Brunicke has been a healthy scratch for Pittsburgh's last seven games, so it shouldn't come as a surprise to see him going out on a conditioning assignment. General manager Kyle Dubas is evidently still pondering whether to keep the young blueliner in the NHL or return him to juniors. Brunicke is right on the cusp of the Pens needing to make a call, having played in nine games already -- one more and Pittsburgh will burn the first year of his entry-level deal.

Tristan Broz - Earns promotion
Broz was called up from AHL Wilkes-Barre/Scranton on Monday.
Impact
Broz's offensive upside has been on full display with the Baby Pens, racking up eight goals and five helpers in 18 minor-league tilts and leading the team in goals. In a corresponding move, Philip Tomasino was officially sent down to the minors after passing through waivers Nov. 19. The Penguins are dealing with a raft of injuries among the forward group, which could see Broz elevated to a top-six role.

Sidney Crosby - Reaches major milestone Saturday
Crosby recorded an even-strength goal and a power-play assist in Saturday's 3-2 overtime loss to the Kraken.
Impact
Crosby became the sixth player in NHL history to reach 500 multipoint games, according to Wes Crosby of NHL.com, after chipping in on the team's two goals. Despite adding yet another milestone to his glorious career, it's safe to say Crosby is not the one-man wrecking crew he once was. He has notched "only" eight points (five goals, three assists) in nine games during November. He still has 23 points across 21 games this season, though, thanks to 13 goals and 10 helpers.

Evgeni Malkin - Nets PP goal Saturday
Malkin scored a power-play goal in Saturday's 3-2 overtime loss to the Kraken.
Impact
Malkin found the back of the net thanks to a wrister at the 5:56 mark of the second period, and now he has six goals on the season. The veteran playmaker has been extremely productive of late and has cracked the scoresheet in all but two of his last 10 games, tallying three goals, five assists, four PIM, 26 shots and two hits over that stretch. However, he hasn't recorded a multi-point game since tallying two points in a 6-3 win over the Blues on Oct. 27.

ROTOWIRE
Sergei Murashov - Tagged with OT loss Saturday
Murashov stopped 18 of 21 shots in Saturday's 3-2 overtime loss to the Kraken.
Impact
Murashov entered this game with a 1-1-0 record while tallying one shutout, a 1.53 GAA and a .932 save percentage across three appearances in his first NHL campaign. He wasn't able to maintain the strong start here, but the ups and downs are common among young goaltenders. Murashov should return to his No. 2 role when the Penguins take on the Sabres on Wednesday, allowing Arturs Silovs to return to his regular role between the pipes.

William Horcoff - Continues strong campaign
Horcoff scored a goal on four shots and added two assists in the University of Michigan's 8-1 win over Ohio State University on Saturday.
Impact
Horcoff is up to 14 goals and seven helpers through 21 outings this season. His 14 goals are most in the NCAA so far this year, though he's also among the leaders in games played thanks to Michigan's busy schedule. Still, the Penguins prospect is showcasing a valuable finishing skill, and his net-front presence could be a boost to a power-play unit in a few years.

Rutger McGroarty - Two goals in as many AHL games
McGroarty scored a goal in AHL Wilkes-Barre/Scranton's 1-0 win over Providence on Saturday.
Impact
McGroarty has two goals in as many games since joining the AHL club. The plan is for the 21-year-old winger to get up to speed with WBS after missing training camp and the first month of the season due to an upper-body injury. If he continues to play well, he'll be a candidate to join the NHL club later in the campaign.

ROTOWIRE
Joel Blomqvist - Shutout in second start of 2025-26
Blomqvist posted a 27-save shutout in AHL Wilkes-Barre/Scranton's 1-0 win over Providence on Saturday.
Impact
Blomqvist was making just his second start of the season since he recovered from a season-opening lower-body injury. The 23-year-old has allowed just one goal on 51 shots while winning both of his starts so far. He'll need time to get back up to speed, but his performance in the AHL could keep him from falling too far behind Sergei Murashov on the Penguins' organization depth chart.

Sergei Murashov - Set to face Seattle
Murashov will tend the home twine Saturday against the Kraken, Penguins play-by-play announcer Josh Getzoff reports.
Impact
Murashov will see game action for the second day in a row after replacing Arturs Silovs in goal during Friday's 5-0 loss to Minnesota. The 21-year-old Murashov is 1-1-0 with one shutout, a 1.53 GAA and a .932 save percentage across three appearances in his first NHL campaign. This is the first half of a back-to-back for the Kraken, so they have the rest advantage for this cross-conference matchup.

ROTOWIRE
Connor Clifton - Searching for first point
Clifton had three hits and a blocked shot in 18:21 of ice time in Friday's 5-0 loss to the Wild.
Impact
Clifton has played in five of the Penguins' last six games, but he's suited up for just eight of 20 contests to begin the season. He's been held without a point while racking up 36 hits, 17 blocked shots, a minus-2 rating and six shots on net. Clifton should continue to provide plenty of physicality, but he could return to being a scratch when the Penguins want to get another look at Harrison Brunicke, who has been scratched for six straight games as the team buys itself time to decide if he'll be a full-time NHLer this year.
