Rickard Rakell - Cleared for contact Rakell (hand) rejoined the Penguins for practice Tuesday and has been cleared to start taking contact, Seth Rorabaugh of Tribune-Review Sports reports.
Impact Rakell won't be ready to return against the Ducks on Tuesday, but his return to practice clears the way for him to potentially be ready to face the Habs on Thursday. Prior to getting hurt, the winger was producing offensively with three goals and five assists in nine contests. Whenever Rakell is given the all-clear, he should retake his place on the first line alongside Sidney Crosby.

Harrison Brunicke - Joining Team Canada Brunicke will be loaned to Team Canada for the 2026 World Junior Championship, Penguins play-by-play announcer Josh Getzoff reports.
Impact Brunicke will take part in the World Juniors, which will likely keep him away from the Penguins through early January. The 19-year-old Brunicke hasn't played in an NHL game since Nov. 3 versus the Maple Leafs, though he did suit up in five minor-league games for AHL Wilkes-Barre/Scranton while on a conditioning assignment.

Arturs Silovs - Exits ice first Tuesday Silovs was the first goalie to leave the ice Tuesday, Penguins play-by-play announcer Josh Getzoff reports, indicating he'll be between the pipes at home versus Anaheim.
Impact Silovs has played in just one of the Penguins' last seven outings, which shouldn't come as a surprise considering he is mired in a four-game losing streak. In those contests, the 24-year-old netminder is sporting a 0-2-2 record and 3.85 GAA. With an upcoming back-to-back versus San Jose and Utah on Saturday and Sunday, respectively, Silovs should see some extra work ahead of the Christmas break.

Sam Poulin - Promoted to NHL Poulin was recalled from AHL Wilkes-Barre/Scranton on Tuesday.
Impact Poulin has yet to find the back of the net in 15 NHL appearances over the last four seasons, including his two appearances this year. Even with his promotion to the NHL, the 24-year-old Poulin is far from a lock to suit up versus the Ducks on Tuesday, as veteran Danton Heinen was also called up from the minors.

Impact Heinen's promotion comes as both Evgeni Malkin (upper body) and Blake Lizotte (undisclosed) were placed on injured reserve in corresponding moves. While the 30-year-old Heinen has performed well in the minors, 18 points in 12 games, he has struggled offensively in the NHL, recording a lone point in nine games with the Penguins.

Impact Lizotte registered an assist, two hits and two blocks in 13:59 of ice time against Dallas on Sunday, so it's not immediately clear what might be bothering the 27-year-old forward. The Penguins had been getting healthy, with Justin Brazeau and Noel Acciari returning Sunday, but suddenly they are thin at forward again with both Lizotte and Evgeni Malkin (upper body) landing on injured reserve.

Impact Malkin's injury was originally downplayed by head coach Dan Muse, who had originally said he believed Malkin might be available for Sunday's clash with Dallas. Now, the 39-year-old center is suddenly on injured reserve, which will eliminate him from contention for Pittsburgh's next two outings. With Geno on the shelf, Kevin Hayes has been pressed into service as the Pens' second-line center.
