Joonas Korpisalo - Slated to start Thursday Korpisalo will defend the home crease against Montreal on Thursday, according to Renaud Lavoie of TVA Sports.

Impact Korpisalo snapped a three-game losing streak Saturday, stopping only 14 shots in a 5-4 win over San Jose. Korpisalo is 8-15-0 with a 3.70 GAA and an .884 save percentage in 26 appearances this season. He has been a disappointment, after signing a five-year contract in the offseason. The Canadiens average 28.5 shots per contest, 27th in the NHL.

Impact Although Norris seems to be getting close to returning, he'll still miss his fourth straight game Thursday versus Montreal. He has 12 goals and 20 points in 33 outings in 2023-24. When Norris is healthy, he might push Zack MacEwen out of the lineup.

Tyler Ennis - Announces retirement Ennis ended his playing career Wednesday.

Impact Ennis had five assists in seven games while playing with the Mannheim Eagles of the German league this campaign. The 34-year-old logged 700 NHL games across 13 seasons with Buffalo, Edmonton, Ottawa, Minnesota and Toronto, totaling 144 goals and 346 points. His best offensive season came in 2010-11 in which he contributed 20 goals and 49 points in 82 outings with Buffalo. Ennis also had four goals and 12 points in 24 career playoff games.

Jake Sanderson - Two-point effort against Avs Sanderson produced a goal on a team-high six shots on net while adding an assist, two PIM and a plus-1 rating in Tuesday's 7-4 loss to Colorado.

Impact It was the first multi-point performance since Dec. 19 for the 21-year-old blueliner, and his second-period tally snapped a 16-game goal drought. The Senators are trying not to over-work Sanderson in his second NHL season -- he saw less than 20:00 of ice time Tuesday for the first time in seven games, and Thomas Chabot handled duties on the first power-play unit -- but he's stayed relatively productive with eight points in the last 14 contests, including three helpers with the man advantage.

Impact All three helpers came in the second period as Ottawa built a 4-2 lead, only for Colorado to dominate down the stretch. Tkachuk caught fire around Christmas and has yet to slow down, piling up four goals and 13 points over the last 11 games despite a rotating cast at center on the Sens' top line.

Impact The 2020 first-round pick has moved onto Ottawa's top line at even strength between Brady Tkachuk and Claude Giroux and is taking full advantage. Tuesday's performance was the first multi-goal game of his brief career, and Greig has two goals and five points in the last four games. The 21-year-old didn't see any power-play time Tuesday, however, and when Josh Norris (upper body) returns, he's likely to bump Greig back down the depth chart.

Impact The 36-year-old continues to disregard Father Time and produce the kind of numbers he did a decade ago. Giroux has four multi-point performances in the last 11 games, a stretch in which he's racked up four goals and 13 points, and he's very nearly on pace for his first point-a-game campaign since 2018-19.

Impact Colorado's final goal was scored into an empty net. Sogaard made some big stops early in his first NHL start of the season and Ottawa held a 4-2 lead late in the second period, but things begin to unravel after Mikko Rantanen snapped a shot past the netminder before the second intermission. Sogaard was posting solid numbers for AHL Belleville prior to his promotion with a 2.48 GAA and .920 save percentage in 16 outings, so he should get a few more chances to prove himself before Anton Forsberg (groin) returns from IR.
