Erik Haula - Working toward return Haula (ankle) could be an option versus Pittsburgh on Tuesday with head coach Sheldon Keefe telling reporters, "Practice today was more forecasting the rest of the week. We'll see....

Impact Haula practiced in a second-line role at Monday's practice, a good indication he'll be given the all-clear ahead of Tuesday's tilt. Prior to his absence, the Finn was stuck in an 18-game goal drought during which he chipped in 32 shots, 30 hits and 10 PIM while averaging 14:06 of ice time. In order to play Tuesday, Haula will need to be activated off injured reserve.

Nico Daws - Plays third period Sunday Daws stopped all seven shots he faced in relief of Jake Allen in Sunday's 4-3 loss to the Sabres.

Impact Allen's poor performance earned him a trip to the bench after two periods. Daws did well in mop-up duty, allowing the Devils to attempt a comeback that fell a goal short. This was Daws' first NHL appearance of the season after he went 9-11-0 with a 3.15 GAA and an .894 save percentage over 21 appearances in 2023-24. The Devils don't have a back-to-back set in the last week before the 4 Nations Face-Off, but it's possible the 24-year-old netminder will get a start in one of those three games anyway.

Justin Dowling - Posts helper Sunday Dowling registered an assist and went plus-2 in Sunday's 4-3 loss to the Sabres.

Impact Dowling ended a three-game point drought with the helper. He has five points, 20 shots on net, 28 hits and a minus-1 rating over 36 appearances this season. Erik Haula (ankle) is nearing a return to the lineup, but Dowling seems likely to remain in a bottom-six role at least as long as Nico Hischier (upper body) is out.
