Impact Palat missed Saturday's contest against Buffalo due to the birth of his second child. The two-time Stanley Cup winner will slot in on New Jersey's third line while being a special teams contributor now that he is back with the team. Palat produced 31 points in 71 regular-season games with New Jersey in 2023-24.

Brett Pesce - Skating Tuesday Pesce is skating in a regular jersey at Tuesday's practice, Amanda Stein of the Devils' official site reports.
Impact Pesce landed on injured reserve Monday, but he appears to be making solid progress after missing New Jersey's first two contests of the season. The 29-year-old fractured his fibula during Carolina's postseason run, but the right-shot defenseman was able to land a six-year deal with the Devils in free agency. Pesce notched 13 points in 70 regular-season contests with Carolina in 2023-24.

Andy Welinski - Falls short of roster Welinski did not make the Devils' roster announced Monday, James Nichols of New Jersey Hockey Now reports.
Impact Welinski remains a free agent after failing to earn a contract during training camp. The 31-year-old defenseman is likely to receive an AHL-only deal or a two-way contract at best, and he can sign with any organization.

Impact Hatakka sustained an injury that was worse than day-to-day in late September. The 23-year-old defenseman's placement on IR suggests he'll miss Opening Night versus the Maple Leafs on Thursday, but he is eligible to return whenever he's healthy.

Impact Hughes has not resumed skating after suffering a shoulder injury during offseason training. The 21-year-old skated in all 82 regular-season contests with the Devils last season, banking 47 points and a minus-25 rating. Fellow blueliner Dougie Hamilton will quarterback New Jersey's top power-play unit while Hughes is sidelined.
