Kurtis MacDermid - Playing time fading MacDermid was scratched for the sixth straight game in Wednesday's 5-1 loss to the Avalanche.
Impact MacDermid didn't get into the lineup against his former team -- he had been with the Avalanche for parts of the last three seasons. The Devils' forward group is healthy right now, so unless head coach Sheldon Keefe decides he needs extra physicality in the lineup, MacDermid is likely to sit more often than not. He's still in search of his first point this season while adding six shots on net, 23 PIM and 37 hits over 21 appearances.

Luke Hughes - Provides another assist Hughes notched an assist, three shots on goal and two PIM in Wednesday's 5-1 loss to the Avalanche.
Impact Hughes has three helpers over his last two contests, with his latest assist setting up his elder brother, Jack Hughes, for the Devils' lone goal Wednesday. The younger Hughes has earned six points and a plus-1 rating over his last eight outings as he continues to make an impact on offense. For the season, he has 25 points, 79 shots on net, 43 blocked shots and a minus-1 rating through 51 games.

Jack Hughes - Scores lone goal in loss Hughes scored a goal on two shots and added two PIM in Wednesday's 5-1 loss to the Avalanche.
Impact Hughes has stayed hot in February with seven goals and two assists over seven contests this month. His tally was all the Devils could muster against Mackenzie Blackwood in this game. Hughes has matched his goal total from last season (27) and is up to 69 points, 222 shots on net and a plus-11 rating across 60 appearances in 2024-25.

Impact Jake Allen was on the hook for all five goals, including three in a span of 4:04 late in the third period. Daws' time on the NHL roster may be coming to a close soon, as Jacob Markstrom is practicing with the Devils during their current five-game road trip. That leaves the goaltending plans a bit up in the air for this weekend's back-to-back (Saturday at Utah, Sunday at Vegas). If Markstrom is not cleared to return for either of those games, Daws would likely split the starts with Allen.

Jake Allen - Pulled late in loss Allen allowed five goals on 36 shots in Wednesday's 5-1 loss to the Avalanche.
Impact Allen played nearly the whole game, but exited with 1:42 left in the third period after giving up the fifth goal, three of which came in a span of 4:04. There was no report of an injury following the contest, so it's safe to assume the 34-year-old netminder is good to go for the remainder of the road trip. Allen is now 9-13-1 with a 2.70 GAA and a .906 save percentage through 23 appearances. Jacob Markstrom (knee) is on the trip, but it's unclear if he'll be ready to go in time to start one of the Devils' next two games, which are in a back-to-back set this weekend with stops in Utah on Saturday and Vegas on Sunday.
