Logs lots of ice time in win McCabe recorded two shots on goal, two blocks and one hit in 21:34 of ice time during Monday's 6-3 win against the Flames.

Impact McCabe led all Maple Leafs skaters in ice time Monday (21:34), but that was mostly due to the amount of time Toronto spent shorthanded. The Leafs allowed four power plays and Calgary didn't score on any of them in part because of the work the 31-year-old did shorthanded, out there for over four of the eight minutes on the kill. Unfortunately, shorthanded prowess doesn't necessarily translate to fantasy relevance and with no points in seven games, McCabe doesn't really warrant much fantasy consideration.

Impact McCabe spent parts of two years with the Blackhawks, but he came back to haunt his former team in this contest. His second-period tally gave the Maple Leafs their first lead of the game, and he also set up Chris Tanev's insurance goal in the third. McCabe has three points and a plus-8 rating over six outings in February. He's up to two goals, 16 points, 57 shots on net, 99 blocked shots, 94 hits and a plus-20 rating through 48 contests overall, adding some fantasy value in formats that reward non-scoring production.

Impact McCabe set up Matthew Knies on an insurance tally in the second period. The helper was McCabe's first point since Jan. 16, when he had two assists against the Devils. The 31-year-old blueliner plays a physical role in the Maple Leafs' top four, so producing offense is secondary. He's at 14 points, 52 shots on net, 91 hits, 91 blocked shots, 36 PIM and a plus-14 rating through 45 contests.

McCabe has just 13 points, including 12 assists, in 37 games this season. Points aren't really a guarantee with the defender, but those secondary stats of hits and blocks are a valuable fantasy commodity.

Prior to his absence, the 31-year-old blueliner was offering decent offensive production with six points in his prior 13 outings -- far better than his 11-game pointless streak in November. With McCabe back in the lineup, Simon Benoit figures to be relegated to a spot in the press box.
