Logan Couture - Won't play Sunday Couture (lower body) will miss Sunday's game against the Avalanche, according to Sheng Peng of San Jose Hockey Now.

Impact Couture hasn't played yet in 2023-24, but coach David Quinn told Max Miller of The Hockey News on Thursday that there's "a level of optimism that we haven't had before," so it does sound like the 34-year-old is making progress. Couture is likely to serve in a top-six capacity and feature on the first power-play unit once he's recovered from his injury.

Ty Emberson - Considered day-to-day Emberson (lower body) remains on injured reserve but has been upgraded to day-to-day, Sheng Peng of San Jose Hockey Now reports Friday.

Impact Emberson has missed the last 12 games due to his lower-body injury but looks to be nearing a return to action. Even once cleared to play, the 23-year-old defenseman is far from a lock for the lineup and may have to share games with Nikita Okhotyuk and Henry Thrun. For his part, Emberson appeared to be finding his offensive stride with three points in four games prior to getting hurt.
