Impact Smith has been sidelined since mid-December due to his upper-body injury, and the team announced Dec. 22 that he was considered week-to-week. It's not yet clear exactly which date Smith could return, but he at least appears to be drawing closer to suiting up. Over his first 33 appearances of the season, he recorded 12 goals, 17 assists, 12 PIM, seven hits and seven blocked shots while averaging 17:55 of ice time.

John Klingberg - Removed from IR Klingberg (lower body) was activated from injured reserve Sunday.
Impact According to Sheng Peng of San Jose Hockey Now, Klingberg will replace Nick Leddy in Sunday's lineup against Vegas. The 33-year-old Klingberg missed the last four games. He has accounted for nine goals, 16 points, 48 shots on net, 41 blocked shots and 23 hits through 31 appearances this season.

Yaroslav Askarov - Taking on the Knights Askarov will be the starting goaltender Sunday against the Golden Knights, Curtis Pashelka of The San Jose Mercury News reports.
Impact Since his torrid month of November, Askarov has allowed at least three goals in 12 straight starts. As a result, his numbers have taken a bit of a dip. The 23-year-old is 16-10-1 on the season with a 3.44 GAA and an .893 save percentage. The Golden Knights enter Sunday winners of three straight games, scoring at least four goals in each contest.
