Flames lose Cole Schwindt on waivers as Jakob Pelletier goes unclaimed While Jakob Pelletier will remain in the Flames system, fellow forward prospect Cole Schwindt was claimed off waivers by the Golden Knights.

Picks up first career assist Schwindt registered an assist and two shots on goal in Friday's 4-3 win over the Blues.

Impact Schwindt was claimed off waivers from Calgary just before the season started, and he's stuck around on the NHL roster. He didn't play in the opener, but he replaced Brendan Brisson in the lineup Friday and set up a Shea Theodore tally in the second period. Schwindt is likely to be limited to bottom-six minutes when he's in the lineup, and while there's some physicality in his game, the lack of ice time will keep him off the radar in most fantasy formats.

Heading to Vegas Schwindt was claimed off waivers by the Golden Knights on Monday, Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet reports.

Impact Schwindt spent training camp with the Flames on a one-year, two-way contract but was placed on waivers Monday. The 23-year-old has made just seven regular-season appearances in the NHL, but he'll land with Vegas ahead of the 2024-25 campaign. Even though he'll be with a different organization this year, it wouldn't be surprising to see him spend most of the season in the minors.

Shifts to waivers Schwindt was placed on the waiver wire Sunday, Pat Steinberg of Sportsnet 960 The Fan reports.

Impact Schwindt generated 14 goals and 36 points in 66 games with AHL Calgary during the 2023-24 regular season. He will probably spend the majority of the 2024-25 campaign in the minors.

Inks two-way deal Schwindt signed a one-year, two-way contract with the Flames on Wednesday.

Impact Schwindt will make slightly more than the league minimum in the NHL, which carries an $800,000 cap hit. The 23-year-old winger, acquired in the Matthew Tkachuk trade in July of 2022, had 36 points in 66 contests with AHL Calgary last year. He also played in four games with the Flames, and while Schwindt could see more NHL time in 2024-25, he's likely to spend a good portion of the season with the farm team.

Impact Schwindt played 7:40 of ice time against the Sharks on Thursday, recording one hit along the way. Now, the 22-year-old winger returns to AHL Calgary while Dryden Hunt was recalled in a corresponding move. Despite the lack of production at the NHL level, Schwindt should remain on the shortlist of potential call-ups the rest of the way.

Impact Schwindt has nine goals and 21 points in 41 AHL contests in 2023-24. He's also appeared in three games with the Flames while recording no points, two PIM, one shot, three hits and one block.

Impact Schwindt has sat as a healthy scratch for four straight contests since being promoted from the minors Feb. 4. Although he'll head to the minors for now, it wouldn't be surprising to see him back with the big club as an emergency depth option ahead of Thursday's game against San Jose.

Drops to minor-league affiliate Schwindt was reassigned to AHL Calgary following Saturday's 1-0 win over the Blackhawks.

Impact Schwindt saw a meager 4:45 of ice time in that contest. He had one shot on net, three hits, one blocked shot, two PIM and a minus-1 rating over three appearances during his stint with the big club. One of Schwindt or Adam Klapka will likely remain in the minors following the All-Star break, but both will get the chance to play while the big club is on a bye week.

Impact Schwindt has notched eight goals and 20 points in 37 minor-league outings this season. It's unclear at this time if he will get a chance to make his Calgary debut prior to the All-Star break. The 22-year-old forward skated in three games with Florida during the 2021-22 campaign, collecting three shots on goal and five hits.
