Soderblom didn't stand much of a chance due to the Hawks being heavily outplayed in five-on-five play -- all six of New York's markers came at even strength. Soderblom has been inconsistent in 2024-25, but he could get a look as the No. 1 netminder if Petr Mrazek (.893 save percentage, 3.23 GAA) continues to struggle. Impact Soderblom went on a three-game winning streak in mid-December, but he's cooled off since then, going 0-2-0 with a 3.79 GAA and .882 save percentage over his last three appearances. Despite his recent struggles, he's seen more playing time than usual over the past few weeks since Petr Mrazek has been held out of the win column over the past month. Friday's start will be Soderblom's third over Chicago's last five games.

Impact Dallas experiment with new lines Sunday, and Soderblom was not able to keep up. Even though the 25-year-old Swede was decent between the pipes, the Blackhawks couldn't overcome the early four-goal deficit. Soderblom has been putting up respectable numbers of late, going 3-1-0 with a 2.37 GAA and a .917 save percentage over his last five appearances while outplaying Mrazek badly in that stretch.

The Blackhawks could turn to alternating Soderblom and Petr Mrazek's starts now that both are healthy, though the veteran Mrazek saw a heavy workload prior to a groin injury early in December.

Soderblom has gone 3-3-0 with a 3.05 GAA and an .886 save percentage in six December contests, but there's no question his arrow is pointing in the right direction after his last outings.
