Arvid Soderblom - NHL News & Rumors

Gives up three goals in loss Soderblom stopped 15 of 18 shots in Thursday's 4-1 loss to the Islanders. New York's fourth goal was an empty-netter.

Impact Soderblom surrendered a power-play goal to Bo Horvat late in the first period before allowing two more goals in the second, leaving Chicago facing a three-goal deficit. The Swedish netminder has had a rocky start to the season, going 0-2-0 with a 4-58 GAA and .820 save percentage in his first two outings as the backup behind Spencer Knight. Despite the defeat, Soderblom reached 3,000 career saves with Chicago, becoming the 12th goalie in franchise history to do so.

Getting start Thursday Soderblom will protect the road goal versus the Islanders on Thursday, Andrew Gross of Newsday reports.

Impact Soderblom will make his second start of the season, despite Spencer Knight coming off a win Tuesday versus the Blues. Soderblom gave up six goals on 32 shots versus the Mammoth in his season debut last Thursday. Until the 27-year-old shows more reliable results between the pipes, he's a risky fantasy option.

On wrong side of shutout Soderblom allowed six goals on 32 shots in Thursday's 6-0 loss to the Mammoth.

Impact Soderblom didn't put in a great showing, but the Blackhawks' defense didn't do him in any favors. With a young blue line in front of him, it could be rough early in the season. Soderblom also hasn't logged a save percentage better than .898 in any of his NHL campaigns, so it's unlikely he'll be able to steal a game when his teammates are off their game. The Blackhawks wrap up their season-opening road trip in Buffalo on Saturday, which will likely be a start for Spencer Knight.

Expected to face Utah Soderblom is slated to start on the road against Utah on Thursday, per Ben Pope of the Chicago Sun-Times.

Impact Soderblom is drawing into Chicago's second game of the season after Spencer Knight stopped 32 of 36 shots en route to a 5-2 loss to Vegas on Tuesday. Knight's likely to get the majority of Chicago's workload this campaign, but Soderblom should end up accumulating over 25 starts in 2026-27. The 27-year-old Soderblom finished the 2025-26 regular season with an 8-13-3 record, 3.80 GAA and .880 save percentage in 26 outings.

Unlucky loss Thursday Soderblom stopped 35 of 36 shots in Thursday's 1-0 preseason loss to the Blues.

Impact Soderblom has given up just four goals on 62 shots over two preseason starts. The 27-year-old Swede is in good form heading into the regular season, but he won't steal many starts from Spencer Knight. Expect Soderblom to handle backup usage as he looks to bounce back from his 3.80 GAA and .880 save percentage from 26 outings last year.

Impact Soderblom allowed three goals on 26 shots in an overtime loss versus the Wild on Saturday. The 27-year-old netminder will get a second look during the preseason in this contest. Based on Soderblom's usage, he looks set to get the backup job behind Spencer Knight, while Drew Commesso is likely to head to AHL Rockford to start the year.

Makes 23 saves in preseason start Soderblom allowed three goals on 26 shots during Saturday's 3-2 preseason overtime loss to the Wild.

Impact Soderblom drew the start during Saturday's preseason opener and defended the crease for the entire game, as expected. He enters the 2026-27 season likely to serve as the primary backup to Spencer Knight. Soderblom made 26 regular-season appearances last year, and he went 8-13-3 with a 3.80 GAA and .880 save percentage.

Facing Wild Soderblom will guard the road goal in Saturday's preseason matchup against Minnesota, Charlie Roumeliotis of WGN Radio reports.

SEPTEMBER 19 • ROTOWIRE

Surrenders five goals in loss Soderblom stopped 23 of 28 shots on goal in Saturday's 5-3 loss to the Blues.

Impact Soderblom faltered in Saturday's second period, as he gave up three goals, which placed the Blackhawks behind 4-2. With the loss, he now has an 8-13-3 record, a 3.80 GAA and an .880 save percentage across 26 outings this season. Since the Blackhawks have been eliminated from postseason contention, the 26-year-old netminder has appeared in three of Chicago's last five games. He'll likely draw one or two more starts to give Spencer Knight some much-needed rest, making Soderblom a viable fantasy option in category leagues that track saves. However, he'll be a risky start Monday if Chicago elects to roll him out against the Sabres' high-caliber offense.

Soderblom is up to 8-12-3 with a 3.74 GAA and an .882 save percentage over 25 appearances. Impact With the Blackhawks eliminated from postseason contention, Soderblom will draw his second consecutive appearance to give Spencer Knight an extended rest. Overall, the 26-year-old Soderblom has a 7-12-3 record, a 3.82 GAA and an .880 save percentage across 24 outings this season. He'll face off against the Kraken, who currently rank 26th in the NHL with 2.80 goals per game this season.

Concedes once in limited time Soderblom allowed one goal on five shots in Thursday's 3-1 loss to the Oilers.

Impact Soderblom replaced Spencer Knight at 3:18 of the second period, as the former was dealing with an equipment issue, but he left the game at the 8:15 mark of the same frame. Soderblom is the clear No. 2 option between the posts for Chicago, so his fantasy appeal will be matchup-based until the end of the season for a Chicago team that's now officially eliminated from playoff contention with this loss.

Surrenders six goals in loss Soderblom allowed six goals on 39 shots in Friday's 6-1 loss to the Rangers.

Impact With the Blackhawks going ultra-young for the rest of the season, that's created some gaps in the system. It showed Friday, as Soderblom struggled under pressure behind a green defensive unit. He's gone 2-3-1 in March, allowing at least four goals in each of his losses. He's at 7-12-3 with a 3.79 GAA and an .881 save percentage over 23 appearances this season. Spencer Knight will probably get the nod for Sunday's game versus the Devils to close out this road trip.
