Signs with Hurricanes DeAngelo agreed to a one-year, $1.675 million contract with Carolina on Monday, per PuckPedia.
Impact DeAngelo was bought out of the final season of his two-year, $10 million contract by Philadelphia on July 14. He registered 11 goals and 42 points in 70 appearances with the Flyers last season. DeAngelo had 10 goals and 51 points over 64 games with the Hurricanes during the 2021-22 campaign. He will probably line up on Carolina's third defense pairing and see time on the second power-play unit in his return to Raleigh.

On unconditional waivers DeAngelo was placed on unconditional waivers by Philadelphia on Friday.
Impact DeAngelo played 70 games for the Flyers in 2022-23 and was a healthy scratch for the final five games of the season. DeAngelo had 11 goals and 42 points with four tallies and 15 assists coming with the man-advantage. DeAngelo seems to burn his bridges wherever he plays as he was bought out by the Rangers just two years ago and while it seemed like he resurrected his career in 2021-22 with the Hurricanes, they dealt him after one season to the Flyers. Should DeAngelo pass through waivers, Philadelphia will buy out the remaining year of his contract and DeAngelo will become a free agent.

Impact DeAngelo isn't close to delivering 51 points (64 games) like he did last season. But he does have 41 points (11 goals, 30 assists), including 19 power-play points in 67 contests, and he has established a new career mark in shots (160). DeAngelo is plus-5 in his last nine games, which has helped improve a career-worst minus-23 on the season.

Impact He had a hand in the Flyers' final two goals of regulation as the club struck back quickly after falling behind 3-2 and 4-3.
