GAME LOG

INJURIES

Clear after full practice Moss (foot) practiced fully Friday and doesn't have a designation for Sunday's game at the Giants.
Impact Earlier Friday, coach Zac Taylor told Geoff Hobson of the Bengals' official site that both Moss and fellow RB Chase Brown (quadricep) were good to go for Week 6 action. Having said that, Moss avoided a designation entirely on Friday's practice report, while Brown was listed as questionable after logging a second consecutive limited session. If Brown is at all inhibited this weekend, Moss could take on a bit more work than normal, which has amounted to 14.4 touches for 67 yards from scrimmage per game while scoring three TDs through five contests this season.

Set to play Sunday Coach Zac Taylor relayed Friday that Moss (foot) is good to go for Sunday night's game against the Giants, Geoff Hobson of the Bengals' official site and Ben Baby of ESPN.com repor...
Impact The same applies to fellow RB Chase Brown (quadricep), which ensures that the Bengals will maintain backfield continuity in Week 6. Though the team's first five games this season, Moss has logged 57 carries for 211 yards and two TDs and caught 15 passes for 124 yards and a receiving score, while Brown has carried 41 times for 230 yards and two TDs and added 10 catches for 39 yards and a lone receiving score.
OCTOBER 11, 2024 • ROTOWIRE
Limited in return to practice Moss (foot) returned to a limited practice Thursday, Paul Dehner Jr. of The Athletic reports.
Impact Moss was unable to practice Wednesday, so his return to a limited session a day later bodes well for his chances of suiting up Sunday against the Giants. Meanwhile, fellow RB Chase Brown (quadricep) was added to Cincinnati's injury report after being deemed limited Thursday. Friday's final report will reveal whether either running back heads into the weekend with a Week 6 designation.
OCTOBER 10, 2024 • ROTOWIRE
Present for practice Moss (foot) was in uniform for Thursday's practice, Ben Baby of ESPN.com reports.
Impact Moss didn't practice Wednesday, so his presence on the field a day later is a positive indicator ahead of Sunday's game against the Giants. The Bengals' upcoming injury report will provide added context on that front, by clarifying Moss' official participation level Thursday.
OCTOBER 10, 2024 • ROTOWIRE
Not practicing Moss (foot) didn't practice Wednesday, Ben Baby of ESPN.com reports.
Impact The Bengals are now calling it a foot injury, after an ankle issue initially was reported when Moss left Sunday's loss to Baltimore in the fourth quarter. He returned to the game not long after and even took a carry, but he didn't look right and was then pulled for good, leaving Chase Brown to dominate backfield snaps at the end of the fourth quarter and into overtime. Brown should get a huge workload if Moss isn't ready to face the Giants come Sunday night.
OCTOBER 9, 2024 • ROTOWIRE
Ankle injury appears minor Moss is believed to be OK after he suffered a right ankle injury in the fourth quarter of Sunday's 41-38 overtime loss to the Ravens, Mike Garafolo of NFL Network reports.
Impact The Bengals never officially ruled Moss out for the game after he appeared to tweak his ankle on a three-yard run with 3:57 remaining in the fourth quarter. However, after checking back into the contest later during the drive and gaining no yardage on a carry, he didn't receive another touch for the rest of the quarter or overtime. The Bengals are still likely to monitor Moss' ankle over the next few days, but Garafolo characterizes the injury as more of a scare and not something that is expected to threaten the running back's availability for Cincinnati's Week 6 game on the road versus the Giants.
OCTOBER 7, 2024 • ROTOWIRE
Exits late with ankle issue Moss left Sunday's 41-38 overtime loss to the Ravens late in the fourth quarter with a right ankle injury, Mike Petraglia of the Jungle Roar podcast reports.
Impact The running back gained 24 rushing yards on nine carries and added 28 receiving yards on three catches (four targets) before limping off the field under his own power, and while Moss wasn't officially ruled out, he didn't get a touch in OT. Should the injury prove to be serious, Chase Brown -- who led the Cincy backfield with 12 carries for 46 yards Sunday -- would be in line for a big role in Week 6 against the Giants.

Bengals offense starting to click entering Week 5 showdown against rival Ravens

Despite their 1-3 start, the Cincinnati Bengals are starting to play better with a big challenge set for next week
SEPTEMBER 30, 2024
Finds end zone again Moss rushed the ball 15 times for 51 yards in Sunday's 34-24 win over the Panthers. He added four catches on four targets for 27 yards and a touchdown.
Impact The Bengals came out very aggressive through the air, which limited Moss' to only four carries for eight yards through two quarters. While that mark doubled Chase Brown, the duo's usage near the goal line was interesting as Brown relieved Moss at the goal line for the team's first touchdown of the day. Just before halftime, Moss was then used at the goal line and caught a one-yard touchdown. With a lead in the second half, the Bengals used their backs evenly -- a departure from the usage that favored Moss through the first three weeks of the season. While that may be a concerning sign for him as the season progresses, Moss has three total touchdowns on the season and has topped 60 yards from scrimmage in three of four contests.

Produces off 17 touches Moss rushed 12 times for 58 yards and a touchdown while catching five passes (six targets) for 39 yards in Monday's 38-33 loss to Washington.
Impact Moss put together his best game of the season on a season-high 17 combined touches in Monday's thrilling contest. The 24-year-old also produced his best game as a receiver on a night where Joe Burrow found his groove despite taking another close loss early in the schedule. Moss remains the lead back for a potent offense that may be hitting its stride as we creep towards the quarter mark of the 2024 campaign. The 2020 third-round selection remains a must-start asset in fantasy heading into Sunday's tilt against Carolina.

Gains 47 yards on 13 touches Moss rushed 12 times for 34 yards and brought in his only target for 13 yards in Sunday's 26-25 loss to the Chiefs.
Impact The Bengals lost a hard-fought defensive battle against last year's Super Bowl champions, resulting in several underwhelming fantasy lines Sunday. Moss was one of the victims after averaging just 2.8 yards per tote in the last-second defeat. After two weeks of unfortunate game scripts for fantasy managers, Cincinnati's new starting tailback may finally receive the amount of touches against the Commanders next Monday that Moss' hopeful draftees envisioned when selecting the upside play coming into the 2024 season.

Finds end zone in team debut Moss rushed nine times for 44 yards and a touchdown and brought in two of four targets for 17 yards in the Bengals' 16-10 loss to the Patriots on Sunday.
Impact There was no close split in the Bengals' backfield timeshare for Week 1, as Moss outpaced Chase Brown by six carries and 33 rushing yards. The veteran offseason addition also contributed a five-yard touchdown run early in the third quarter, and he saw his opportunities capped by a surprising game script in which Cincinnati trailed throughout. Moss' rushing touches could be limited once again in Week 2, as the Bengals will travel to Arrowhead Stadium to take on the defending champion Chiefs.

Primed to split touches Moss and Chase Brown figure to split snaps this Sunday against New England, but they won't necessarily have predetermined roles based on situations, Paul Dehner of The Athletic rep...
Impact In other words, it may not be a traditional early/late-down split with one guy getting most of the carries and the other dominating targets. The Bengals may instead use both RBs in a variety of situations, perhaps preferring Brown's speed for some passing downs and Moss' superior blocking for others. It does seem Moss is a favorite to handle short-yardage work and a majority of the other carries between the tackles, but that doesn't mean he'll dominate early down snaps in a pass-first Cincinnati offense directed by coach Zac Taylor and QB Joe Burrow. We should have at least a slightly better idea about the backfield roles after Week 1, even if fluidity throughout the season is a strong possibility.

Sitting out Thursday Moss isn't slated to play in Thursday's preseason game versus the Colts, Kelsey Conway of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.
Impact Moss and the rest of the Bengals' starters won't suit up in the team's exhibition finale. Beyond Moss, it's unclear if No. 2 RB Chase Brown will be included among the regulars who won't dress Thursday, but if he does, Cincinnati's backfield would be composed of Trayveon Williams, Noah Cain and Elijah Collins. Moss himself is in line to be the Bengals' lead runner this season after a 2023 campaign in which he posted 986 yards from scrimmage and seven TDs on 210 touches in 14 regular-season games with the Colts.

Back on practice field Moss (illness) returned to practice Monday, Ben Baby of ESPN.com reports.
Impact Moss didn't suit up for Saturday's preseason opener against the Buccaneers due to an illness, but he's now moved past the ailment and resumed running with the first-team offense at practice. The 26-year-old's next chance to log exhibition reps will come on the road against Chicago on Saturday, Aug. 17. Chase Brown got the starting nod versus Tampa Bay with Moss sidelined, but only rushed five times for 10 yards while securing his only target for no gain.

Dealing with illness Moss didn't play in Saturday's preseason loss to the Buccaneers due to an illness, Kelsey Conway of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.
Impact According to coach Zac Taylor, Moss became sick on Friday night, so the Bengals exercised caution with their top running back as they kicked off exhibition season. Chase Brown, Moss' primary competition for RB reps, didn't fare too well Saturday, notching five carries for 10 yards while catching his only target for no yards. Moss will aim to get healthy ahead of next Saturday's preseason contest at Chicago.
