Impact Mayo had been relegated to special-teams work each of Washington's previous three contests, but he logged 25 defensive snaps versus New York with Jamin Davis (shoulder) on IR. Mayo made the most of the opportunity, tallying his highest tackle total since Week 8 against Philadelphia. He's up to 47 stops on the campaign, the second-most of his nine-year NFL career.

Impact The tight end caught the only TD pass of the day for a Washington quarterback, connecting with Jacoby Brissett on a 15-yard strike late in the third quarter after Sam Howell had been benched once again. It was Thomas' fourth touchdown of the season but his first since late October, and he could be a more appealing fantasy option in Week 17 against the 49ers of Commanders coach Ron Rivera makes the call to give the start to Brissett.

Leading receiver in Week 16 loss McLaurin caught three of five targets for 50 yards in Sunday's 30-28 loss to the Jets.
Impact For the second straight week, McLaurin did little until Sam Howell was replaced at quarterback by Jacoby Brissett, and the wideout gained most of his team-leading yardage on a 29-yard pass from Brissett in the fourth quarter that helped set up a Chris Rodriguez TD. The Commanders' passing attack has looked better under Brissett than Howell in back-to-back games, and McLaurin's fantasy prospects would be brighter if coach Ron Rivera made the switch permanent ahead of a Week 17 clash with the 49ers.

Scores first rushing TD of 2023 Gibson carried the ball nine times for 30 yards and a touchdown and caught one of two targets for two yards in Sunday's 30-28 loss to the Jets.
Impact The fourth-year back scored his first rushing TD of the season late in the fourth quarter to give the Commanders their first lead of the game at 28-27, but the Jets responded with a game-winning field goal in the final seconds. While it was a productive outing for Gibson, he was overshadowed by rookie Chris Rodriguez, who scored twice on 10 carries while also gaining nearly double the rushing yards. The duo split the backfield workload for a second straight game with Brian Robinson (hamstring) sidelined, but if Robinson is unable to get back in the lineup for a Week 17 contest against the 49ers, Gibson could find himself taking a back seat to Rodriguez.

Impact With the Commanders in a 27-7 hole, coach Ron Rivera turned to Brissett for the second straight week to try and provide a spark to the team's offense. The veteran QB proceeded to lead Washington on three straight touchdown drives to take a 28-27 lead, only for the Jets to find a last-second field goal to salvage their victory. Brissett has a 3:0 TD:INT in his two relief appearances while Howell has a 2:8 TD:INT over the last five games, so Rivera could very well make the switch a more permanent one for a Week 17 clash with the 49ers.
