PFF Names Courtland Sutton & Tim Patrick Among NFL's Underrated WR Duos How underrated are Courtland Sutton and Tim Patrick?
APRIL 21, 2022 • STAR-TELEGRAM.COM
Restructures contract with Denver The Broncos converted $6.9 million of Patrick's roster bonus to a signing bonus Friday to create roughly $4.6 million in salary cap space, Mike Klis of 9News Denver reports.
Impact Patrick's restructured deal comes just four months after he signed a three-year, $29.25 million contract with the Broncos in November. The additional salary cap room will allow Denver to remain active as the team looks to improve the roster heading into next season. The veteran wideout caught 53 of 85 targets for 734 yards and five touchdowns in 16 games last season. The acquisition of Russell Wilson at quarterback marks a significant upgrade at the position and should provide Patrick the opportunity to take a step forward in the offense in 2022.

Paces pass catchers in loss Patrick brought in six of 10 targets for 95 yards in the Broncos' 28-24 loss to the Chiefs on Saturday.
Impact Patrick made a remarkable return from a one-game absence on the COVID-19 list, leading the Broncos in receptions, receiving yards and targets. The strong effort was a strong turnaround for Patrick in what had been a lackluster second half of the season, and his production allowed him to set a new career high in receptions (53) while falling just eight yards short of the career-best 742 receiving yards he'd recorded in 2020. Patrick now has consecutive 50-plus-catch campaigns, but he'll likely have to battle KJ Hamler (IR-knee) for the No. 3 receiver role in 2022.

Activated from COVID list Patrick (illness) has been activated off the reserve/COVID-19 list, Aric DiLalla of the Broncos' official site reports.
Impact The same applies to Jerry Jeudy (illness), who also came of the list Wednesday, which sets the stage for the two players to return to action for Saturday's game against Kansas City, bolstering a wideout corps that was headed by Courtland Sutton in Week 17. With Teddy Bridgewater (concussion) on IR, the trio are in line to catch passes in Denver's season finale from QB Drew Lock, who's expected play through a shoulder issue this weekend.

Not available Week 17 Head coach Vic Fangio said that Patrick (illness) and none of the other Denver players who were placed on the reserve/COVID-19 list since Tuesday will be available for Sunday's gam...
Impact Among the 14 players currently on the COVID-19 list, Fangio is leaving the door open for only linebacker Andre Mintze and defensive lineman Mike Purcell -- who were deactivated Monday -- to return this weekend. Patrick is among the 12 other Denver players who will sit out Week 17 due to virus-related protocols, along with fellow wideout Jerry Jeudy. With Patrick and Jeudy sidelined and Courtland Sutton (illness) listed as questionable but at risk of sitting out Sunday, Denver could be down to Kendall Hinton, Diontae Spencer and practice-squad call-ups Travis Fulgham and Seth Williams as its options at receiver this weekend.

Impact Assuming Courtland Sutton and Jerry Jeudy make it through the week healthy, the Broncos have Diontae Spencer and Kendall Hinton as options for the No. 3 receiver role. The possibility also exists that Denver hands more playing time to talented backup tight end Albert Okwuegbunam behind starter Noah Fant. Patrick might technically have a shot to return by Sunday, but Broncos head coach Vic Fangio doesn't expect that to happen.

In line to land on COVID list Denver is expected to place Patrick on the reserve/COVID-19 list Wednesday, Aric DiLalla of the Broncos' official site reports.
Impact Once Patrick is officially placed on the list, he'll need to either be deemed asymptomatic of the virus or turn in two consecutive negative tests 24 hours apart in order to make himself available for Sunday's game against the Chargers. If Patrick isn't cleared to play this weekend, Kendall Hinton would likely replace him as the No. 3 wideout behind Jerry Jeudy and Courtland Sutton.

Can't produce with four targets Patrick caught two of four targets for 18 yards in Sunday's 17-13 loss to the Raiders.
Impact Patrick had a rough game, much like most of the Denver pass catchers in the contest. With Drew Lock under center, the team struggled to move the ball through the air and on the ground. What's promising is that Patrick was on the field for 88 percent of the team's offensive snaps. The veteran wideout's usage has been a pleasant surprise in 2021, but it has not translated to consistent fantasy production. Regardless of who is starting at quarterback, Patrick will be hard to trust when the Broncos visit the Chargers in Week 17.

Finds end zone in loss Patrick caught three of four targets for 42 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 15-10 loss to the Bengals.
Impact Patrick's 25-yard touchdown grab on a pass from Drew Lock was the Broncos' only trip to the end zone against the Bengals. With the score, the veteran wideout now has five touchdowns on the season. The Broncos passing game has struggled throughout the year, but Patrick's usage is encouraging. He has seen five targets in his last three games, and in Week 15, played on 94 percent of Denver's offensive snaps. With that said, there's a strong chance that the Broncos' struggles through the air will continue with Lock likely under center for a Week 16 matchup against the Raiders. Patrick will be difficult to trust in a pivotal week for fantasy.

Two grabs in win Patrick secured two of five targets for 21 yards in Sunday's 38-10 win over the Lions.
Impact Patrick has done little over the past four games in the Broncos underwhelming passing attack, averaging two catches and roughly 17 yards in that stretch. It will be very difficult to rely on him in the fantasy playoffs, even in deep leagues, as the Broncos' passing offense continues to underwhelm. Patrick and the Broncos get a matchup against the Bengals in Week 15.

DECEMBER 10, 2021 • Associated Press
Quiet in loss Patrick caught one of five targets for nine yards in Sunday's 22-9 loss to the Chiefs.
Impact Patrick struggled to get anything going against the Chiefs, which is not surprising as the No. 3 wideout in a below average passing offense. He did, however, play the second most offensive snaps of any Denver wide receiver. Patrick's 67 snaps were just one behind Courtland Sutton, but 11 snaps ahead of Jerry Jeudy. Even with his high snap percentage, the 6-foot-4, 212-pounder is difficult to trust for fantasy purposes barring an injury to either Sutton or Jeudy. Patrick and the Broncos offense will face the Lions in Week 14.
