Broncos back in last place after another meltdown vs Chiefs

The Denver Broncos still haven't figured out how to play an all-around good game against Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs
DECEMBER 6, 2021 • Associated Press
Does little against Chargers Patrick caught two of three targets for 26 yards in Sunday's 28-13 win over the Chargers.
Impact None of the Broncos' big three wideouts reached 30 receiving yards in the game, as Denver's defense and running backs carried the day. Patrick has managed only five grabs for 40 yards over the last two games, a downturn he'll look to break out of in Week 13 against Kansas City.

Broncos get head start on '22 with deals for 2 wideouts

Denver Broncos general manager George Paton has gotten a jump-start on 2022 by signing two of his veteran wide receivers to contract extensions
NOVEMBER 22, 2021 • Associated Press
Gets extension from Denver Patrick and the Broncos agreed Friday on a three-year, $30 million contract extension, Mike Klis of 9News Denver reports.
Impact The deal includes $18.5 million guaranteed and is a nice early birthday present for Patrick, who turns 28 next week and hadn't previously had much financial security since entering the NFL in 2017 as a undrafted free agent out of Utah. He played his way on to Denver's Week 1 roster in 2018 and has emerged as a key cog in the team's pass-catching group over the past three-plus seasons. Patrick has appeared in all 10 of Denver's games thus far in 2021, producing 37 receptions for 523 yards and four touchdowns on 53 targets.

NOVEMBER 20, 2021 • Associated Press
Quiet in loss Patrick secured three of his six targets for 14 yards in Sunday's 30-13 loss to the Eagles.
Impact After leading the Broncos in receiving in a Week 10 win over Dallas, Patrick crashed back down to earth with an underwhelming performance, though his six targets were tied for the second highest on the team. The veteran also played on 53 of the team's 58 offensive snaps, ahead of Jerry Jeudy (45) and just behind Courtland Sutton (55). Patrick has shown that he can be a reliable playmaker for Teddy Bridgewater, but a path to consistent fantasy production may not exist in Denver's offense with everyone healthy. Patrick will head into a Week 11 bye with the hopes of bouncing back against the Chargers on Nov. 28.

Slay's scoop-and-score leads Eagles past Broncos 30-13

Cornerback Darius Slay's 82-yard fumble return for a touchdown sparked the Philadelphia Eagles to a 30-13 upset of the Denver Broncos on Sunday
NOVEMBER 15, 2021 • Associated Press
Active in Week 10 Patrick (knee) is active for Sunday's game against the Eagles, Zac Stevens of TheDNVR.com reports.
Impact Patrick carried a questionable tag after finishing the week with two limited practices, but he'll be available in his No. 3 receiver role Sunday. The 27-year-old has seemingly benefited from less defensive attention the last two games with fellow wideout Jerry Jeudy back in action, as Patrick has produced a 7-149-1 line on eight targets over that span.
NOVEMBER 14, 2021 • ROTOWIRE
Questionable after limited practice Patrick (knee) is questionable for Sunday's game against the Eagles, Aric DiLalla of the Broncos' official site reports.
Impact The Broncos have taken identical approaches with Patrick and tight end Albert Okwuegbunam, both of whom are dealing with knee injuries. Neither practiced Wednesday, but both the wide receiver and tight end have logged consecutive limited sessions since. If he suits up, Patrick will work as the Broncos' No. 3 receiver behind Jerry Jeudy and Courtland Sutton
NOVEMBER 12, 2021 • ROTOWIRE
Bumps up activity Broncos head coach Vic Fangio said Patrick (knee) will be a limited participant in Thursday's practice, George Stoia III of The Denver Gazette reports.
Impact Patrick will take a step up from Wednesday, when he was listed as a non-participant on the Broncos' first Week 10 injury report. So long as he at least maintains limited activity during the team's final practice of the week Friday, Patrick should be in good shape to play Sunday against the Eagles.

Broncos return favor in grabbing rookie back from Eagles

The Denver Broncos were awarded rookie cornerback Mac McCain III off waivers from the Philadelphia Eagles on Wednesday
NOVEMBER 11, 2021 • Associated Press
Misses practice with knee injury Patrick (knee) didn't practice Wednesday, Mike Klis of 9News Denver reports.
Impact Patrick did exit at one point in Sunday's 30-16 win over the Cowboys, but the brief departure was attributed to cramping and he finished the game with four catches for 85 yards and a touchdown on five targets. A return to practice Thursday or Friday would put him on track to play this Sunday against the Eagles.

NOVEMBER 8, 2021 • Associated Press
Okay after injury scare Patrick recorded four receptions on five targets for 85 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 30-16 win over the Cowboys.
Impact Patrick was among a number of Broncos to suffer potential injuries Sunday, though it turned out that he was only suffering from cramping, Aric DiLalla of the Broncos' official site reports. While on the field, Patrick delivered a few big plays, highlighted by a 44-yard touchdown early in the second quarter. He has only eight targets combined between two games since the return of Jerry Jeudy, though Patrick has tallied 149 receiving yards in that span and proven to be a capable deep threat. Patrick and the Broncos will take on the Eagles in Week 10.

The Latest: Week 9 marquee matchup: Titans-Rams minus Miller

The best matchup of Week 9 comes with the Sunday night game pitting the Tennessee Titans and the Los Angeles Rams
NOVEMBER 7, 2021 • Associated Press
Leads Broncos in receiving Sunday Patrick caught all three of his targets for 64 yards in Sunday's 17-10 win over Washington.
Impact Despite the return of Jerry Jeudy to the lineup and the continued presence of Courtland Sutton, it was Patrick who led the Broncos in receiving yards. The three targets were a season low for the fourth-year receiver, but all three of Denver's top wideouts may need to step up in Week 9 against the Cowboys.
NOVEMBER 1, 2021 • ROTOWIRE
Catches two passes in loss Patrick secured two of five targets for 16 yards in Thursday's 17-14 loss to the Browns.
Impact Patrick played on 94 percent of the the Broncos' offensive snaps, but he was essentially a non-factor Thursday night. The Denver offense had trouble getting anything going, which ultimately impacted Patrick's ability to produce for fantasy. Unfortunately for 27-year-old wideout, he is likely to see a drop in playing time and target share as fellow wide receiver Jerry Jeudy is set to return from his ankle injury that landed him on IR. Patrick has been solid for the Broncos in Jeudy's absence, but he will be difficult to trust in fantasy lineups once Jeudy takes the field. Up next for the Broncos is a matchup against Washington in Week 8.

Records first TD since Week 2 Patrick hauled in three of five targets for 42 yards and one touchdown during Sunday's 34-24 loss to the Raiders.
Impact The Broncos responded to the Raiders' opening-drive touchdown with a TD of their own, a 23-yard connection between Teddy Bridgewater and Patrick. Otherwise, Patrick didn't do much in this contest, ranking far behind Courtland Sutton (14) and Noah Fant (11) in terms of targets. In fact, reserves Kendall Hinton and Eric Saubert matched Patrick's target total. At the end his final reception midway through the fourth quarter, Patrick crashed into his own sideline and had his left knee examined, per Andrew Mason of TheDNVR.com. Patrick was able to return on the team's next possession, but it'll be interesting to see if his practice reps are at all limited with Denver facing a short week to prepare for Thursday's visit to Cleveland.
