Returning to Jets
Coleman will re-sign with the Jets, Rich Cimini of ESPN.com reports.
Impact
Coleman, who turns 29 next month, finished last season with 84 carries for 356 yards to go along with 11 catches (on 16 targets) for 49 yards in 11 games. Whereas last year, when Coleman approached Week 1 with starting aspirations, he appears destined for a complementary role behind ascending 2021 fourth-rounder Michael Carter in his second campaign with the Jets.

Sees little action in Week 18
Coleman carried the ball five times for six yards and failed to catch his only target in Sunday's 27-10 loss to the Bills.
Impact
The Jets' offense mostly sputtered in this one, but Coleman didn't exactly provide a spark with his rare touches. The former Falcon and 49er heads into free agency having managed to produce only 405 scrimmage yards and zero touchdowns in 11 games this season for the Jets.

Parsons, Mixon latest stars added to COVID-19 list
Dallas star rookie linebacker Micah Parsons and Cincinnati running back Joe Mixon were the latest big-name players added to the COVID-19 reserve list

Off COVID list
The Jets activated Coleman (illness) from the reserve/COVID-19 list Wednesday.
Impact
Coleman, who was sidelined for the Jets' Week 17 loss to the Buccaneers, is slated to be available for Sunday's season finale against the Bills. His workload for the Week 18 contest will likely be tied in large part to the status of fellow running back Michael Carter, who suffered a concussion over the weekend but is reportedly "progressing well," per head coach Robert Saleh.

Still on COVID list
Coleman remains on the reserve/COVID-19 list in advance of Sunday's game against Buccaneers.
Impact
Until Coleman is activated from the list, look for Michael Carter to log added touches out of the Jets' backfield, with Ty Johnson available to handle complementary work, while Austin Walter and La'Mical Perine are also candidates to mix in.

On COVID list
Coleman (undisclosed) has been placed on the reserve/COVID-19 list, per Aaron Wilson of Sportstalk 790 Houston and the NFL's official transaction log.
Impact
Until Coleman clears the NFL's COVID-19 protocols, look for Michael Carter to see added touches out of the Jets backfield, with Ty Johnson on hand to handle complementary work and Austin Walter and La'Mical Perine also candidates to mix in.

Doesn't do much with 15 touches
Coleman rushed 14 times for 57 yards and caught his only target for four yards in Sunday's 26-21 win over the Jaguars.
Impact
Coleman's 15 touches marked his second-highest total of the season, but he finished a distant third on the team in rushing yards behind Michael Carter (16 carries for 118 yards) and quarterback Zach Wilson, who had 91 yards and a touchdown on four rushing attempts. The Jets would like to maintain their run-heavy approach in Week 17 given all their injuries at wide receiver, but a Tampa Bay team with a far superior offense and run defense will make such a game plan much tougher to execute than it was against Jacksonville.

Effective in limited action
Coleman rushed eight times for 50 yards and wasn't targeted in Sunday's 31-24 loss to Miami.
Impact
Coleman came inches short of scoring his first touchdown of the season in the second quarter, but he was tackled just before crossing the goal line and quarterback Zach Wilson took it himself on the following play. He split carries with Michael Carter, who mustered just 18 rushing yards on his eight attempts in his return from an ankle injury. Carter had established himself as New York's lead back prior to his injury, and it's unclear whether the team was simply easing the rookie back in after he had been out since Week 11, or if Coleman will remain part of a backfield timeshare for the team's favorable Week 16 matchup against the Jaguars.

Cleared to face Dolphins
Coleman (concussion) doesn't carry an injury designation into Sunday's game against the Dolphins, David Furones of the Sun Sentinel reports.
Impact
Coleman was able to practice fully in every practice this week after sitting out the Week 14 loss to New Orleans. He's expected to play second fiddle to Michael Carter (ankle) in the Jets' backfield against the Dolphins, but New York will first need to officially active Carter from IR.

Logs full practice
Coleman (concussion) was listed as a full practice participant Wednesday, Rich Cimini of ESPN.com reports.
Impact
Coleman was inactive for the Jets' Week 14 loss to the Saints, but his full practice participation to begin Week 15 prep indicates that he's progressing through the NFL's five-step concussion protocol in advance of Sunday's game against the Dolphins. Meanwhile, Michael Carter (ankle) is a candidate to come off injured reserve in advance of the weekend, so Coleman could be headed for a smaller role after he logged a total of 27 carries between both of his previous two appearances Weeks 12 and 13.

ROTOWIRE
Expected back this week
Jets head coach Robert Saleh said Wednesday that he expects Coleman (concussion) back for Sunday's game against the Dolphins.
Impact
Coleman -- who missed the Jets' Week 14 loss to the Saints -- is thus in line to practice in advance of the contest and is poised to return to action this weekend, barring any setbacks. Along with Coleman, the Jets also expect fellow running back Michael Carter (ankle) to come off injured reserve this week, according to Saleh. Assuming that's the case, Coleman will presumably re-enter the Jets' backfield mix in Week 15 in a lesser role, after having logged double-digit carries in Weeks 12 and 13.
