Gets 12 touches in return Barkley rushed six times for 25 yards and caught all six of his targets for 31 yards in Monday night's 30-10 loss to the Buccaneers.

Impact Barkley's first appearance since Week 5 saw him fall victim to an ugly offensive performance from the Giants, albeit against a tough opposing defense. The tailback's six rushing attempts actually paced New York on a night the team never led and threw 39 times, but Barkley fortunately was incorporated as a pass-catcher. Along with hauling in all of his targets, only Kadarius Toney made more grabs. Although his 56 scrimmage yards still weren't anything special, Barkley can at least be pleased by his involvement while returning from another injury stint. He'll strive to build on Monday's appearance in what could be a more favorable game flow against the Eagles in Week 12.

Returning to action Monday Barkley (ankle) is listed as active Monday at Tampa Bay.

Impact Barkley last took the field Week 5, when he managed just six snaps at Dallas before suffering a severe left ankle sprain. He returned to practice following the Giants' Week 10 bye and officially was limited Thursday through Saturday before being termed questionable for Week 11 action. Now back in uniform after a four-game absence, Barkley is slated to be New York's lead ballcarrier ahead of Devontae Booker, who averaged 19 touches per game in place of the former. Prior to hitting injured reserve, Barkley averaged 3.6 yards on 54 carries, hauled in 14 of 20 targets for 130 yards and scored three TDs in four-plus contests.

Impact Barkley managed to practice once again Saturday, setting the stage for a possible return from a gnarly ankle injury suffered back in Week 5. The star running back also participated in practice during the team's bye last week week, prompting coach Joe Judge to suggest the 24-year-old was trending in the right direction to play in Monday's contest. Backup Devontae Booker (hip) is also listed as questionable for the aforementioned game and has practiced in limited fashion throughout the week, meaning the Giants could potentially have both backs at their disposal against a dangerous Buccaneers defense.

Impact Coach Joe Judge said Friday morning that Barkley was trending in the right direction for Monday's game in Tampa Bay, while the running back himself sounded less certain a couple hours later, noting that he felt pretty good after a busy practice Friday but still wan't sure if he'd play Monday night, per Jordan Raanan of ESPN.com. Barkley again expressed uncertainty when a reporter asked him if the ankle injury is something he'll have to manage for the rest of the year, but it does seem a majority of Giants beat writers at least expect him to give it a go this week. The final injury report comes out Saturday, with Barkley perhaps having one last shot to progress to full practice participation.
